I have been working at Gazelle full-time

    Pros

Because of the extremely competitive environment that is mobile technology, every so often, there's a real crisis. Evil market forces and so on. Gazelle has made it through every one because of some smart, dedicated people. It's got a great underdog story. Most of the employees are primed for pivoting, so the work in most departments is very interesting.

    Cons

It's got one of those annoying "unlimited vacation" policies that means you get to feel guilty every time you want to take time off. The aforementioned "crises" can contribute to occasionally paranoid reactions to merely inconvenient problems which compound the issue. I was emailed one Thanksgiving at 4am because of one such overreaction. I didn't respond, but laid in bed, eyes open, thinking of stuffing and notification sounds.

    Advice to Management

Breathe. Don't get stuck in the weeds. Try to see Gazelle as a whole company rather than a collection of disparate departments. Man, this sounds new age-y, but...for real.

    Pros

This was a great place to learn when Apple-fever was at it's peak and there were several areas for the company to expand and grow.

    Cons

Poor decision making from upper management. Decisions to partner or advertise with certain companies driven by personal connections, rather than what's best for the for brand or what makes financial sense.

I have been working at Gazelle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very nice group of people, open PTO policy, good location, customer centric and good learning environment

    Cons

Too much groupthink and not enough charge. Top management not aggressive enough and missing some players who really understand how to drive a business like this. Never could turn a profit and just acquired by OUTR with no payout on options.

I have been working at Gazelle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

--After pioneering and leading electronics trade-in, Gazelle is now creating a new value stream for consumers by selling certified pre-owned smartphones and tablets. Creating new opportunities and great energy in the company.
--Strong leadership team and increased opportunity for emerging leaders in the organization since last summer's management shake up
--Still small enough everyone can have a real impact and access to the CEO and other leaders
--Great team - young, smart, collaborative, fun
--Great office in the innovation district and really strong benefits for a company of this size

    Cons

--So many opportunities it can be hard to prioritize what to do first
--Small company so career paths aren't totally clear, but growth will create opportunities for everyone

    Advice to Management

--Keep investing in building the team to accomplish your exciting vision - we're onto something big

    Pros

It's a great place to work and you have a chance to work with a lot of very smart and innovative people. Innovation is encouraged and there is plenty of opportunity to take on new projects and expand your skill sets. People genuinely like each other and seem to be focused on making the company successful.

    Cons

Small company so promotion opportunities can be a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Keep encouraging people to bring new ideas forward.

    I worked at Gazelle full-time

    Pros

Great culture, very smart people, and amazing leadership in the software department. They allow for experimentation which led to pretty good ideas and fun projects to work on. Managers and members of other departments were accessible and will give you the time you need for whatever idea or question you might have. Snacks and breakfast were always on offer with a pretty good selection. The company get-togethers were fun and people did actually get into them. Overall a healthy place to work, that allows you room to grow. Great leadership in the engineering department that sets realistic goals and does a great job providing the necessary tools for a person to succeed.

    Cons

Really hard to find some, the HR department could do with solid goals to go after...they are overall great at what they do though. The team is on the smaller side so the hours can get brutal at times but that's expected in a firm of this size.

I worked at Gazelle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy work in a relatively stress free environment. Wonderful healthcare benefits and vacation accrual. The company has an awesome potential, let's just give it some time and see.

    Cons

Pay is low even for difficulty of the work. You are exposed to extreme heat and cold as the warehouse isn't climate controlled. Too many layers of "management". Power struggles are obvious and the workers are caught in the middle.

    Advice to Management

Assumptions that because someone has been there for a long time means they are supervisor or management material will cause troubles. If you are really interested in what happens in every area, observe the area. Don't just ask the supervisor.

    I worked at Gazelle full-time

    Pros

Positive work environment, everyone seemed to get along. CEO is extremely approachable, and the building is in a fantastic location. The reCommerce movement is innovative and worthwhile.

    Cons

Did not see a lot of movement / advancement opportunities within the company. Salary could have been better

    Advice to Management

Keep your eye on the core values taught to us the first day and you will be fine.

    Pros

Pretty great people to work with. Slightly cutting edge industry. Some what flexible environment. Cool technology.

    Cons

Limited growth opportunities. Salaries arent exactly competitive. Lack of transparency. Not nearly as "crazy awesome" as they want to make it seem... the leadership team clearly plays favorites and doesnt always practice what they preach. HR is a joke (if they cant get this simple dept right I shudder to think what else isnt functioning that we dont see!).

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to recognize people for performance and not for drinking the Kool Aid.

I have been working at Gazelle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are some of the smartest people I've worked with, the location is great, and most of the senior leadership team consistently lives our core values and develop solid, unique programs that deliver great business results. The company has grown among an increasingly competitive landscape. Solid benefits, but confusing to use.

    Cons

Very slow moving on new ideas - seems more reactive than proactive. They claim to be "flexible" but regard face time over results more. I'm not sure why, but they really have not figured out the HR function despite many [unsuccessful] attempts to get it right - in both locations. Pay does not match other local tech companies with similar profiles. Small team, so career pathing can be challenging, but not impossible.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Trust your employees more and let innovation happen. Don't give up before new programs have been given a chance to work.
