I worked at Geek Squad full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Great culture environment, especially with Agents that have tenure.

    Cons

Since it is tied heavily to a retail brand, most decisions are based on cost-to-serve and revenue metrics.

I worked at Geek Squad full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

work from home was the best

    Cons

All the processes are approved and pushed upon staff by personal who never been in position or understands Daily struggles. metrics are heavily pushed upon you even though they try to act like they do not want you to worry about it

    Advice to Management

You have yearly surveys for all employees. Try to actually understand their concerns/complain to rebuild moral

I worked at Geek Squad full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

You'll learn a ton, work with absolutely brilliant people, and you'll fall in love with Geek Squad Culture.

    Cons

You'll be paid like garbage, worked like a dog, managed by incompetents, and then laid off and outsourced to India

    Advice to Management

Trish Walker is a cancer. Nate Bauer is a cancer. After all that's happened since the Orange Wedding, you have to know that they played you. It's not too late to save Geek Squad. I love y'all and I'm still awaiting the signal, but I don't think there's gonna be a signal to wait for if you don't stop the bleeding.

I have been working at Geek Squad full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

work from home, flexible schedule, good benefits

    Cons

Constant changes, not always positive. Recent change to third party out sourcing resulted in 70% of employees being let go.

    Advice to Management

Put your employees first, then they will take care of the clients. Profits instead of quality trump this apparently.

I have been working at Geek Squad full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Work from home Best Buy employee discount

    Cons

Scheduling is like the lottery Very cut throat Systems in place very confusing Poor guidelines Quality of training depends on which manager you are under.

    Advice to Management

I have never worked for a company that had this bad of systems in place, everything is scattered around, literally 0 room to grow. Poor training. I advise you use a system structure compared to most other big companies.

I worked at Geek Squad for more than 2 years

    Pros

I worked in the store and as a remote tech, the GeekSquad culture is great, the collaboration is awesome, some great deals and discounts as well. Good place to gain experience but not to stay.

    Cons

No room for advancement, you have to live in MN and work at corporate to get a chance to advance, but as a remote agent, you compete with thousands of applicants over a few positions that do not come often, scheduling is horrible, one day you work 6AM and other day you start at 6PM, work life balance is non-existent, employee is always at fault if any issues arise and the company does not own up to its shortcomings. I worked at Geek Squad part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Heaven for a tech geek, whether you repair techy hardware, software, or just like to tinker with gadgets. Pay is decent, Co-workers can be amazing.

    Cons

Company tends to ignore rules and policies while shunning the employee for following them if it makes the customer unhappy

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your own company policies more, the customer isn't always right. Especially when they scream at you because their twelve year old computer with 256 MB RAM can't run the latest video game and it's apparently your fault.

    I worked at Geek Squad

    Pros

New issues everyday Help people resolve technical issues The people you work with are chilled out Management is pretty cool, they mainly take your side. Pay is good for what you do.

    Cons

No up skilling Rarely get training on new products if you have a degree, you're over qualified Same old Customers ring in day in day out, it gets really annoying when you can guess the client by their voice Constantly giving help to people to sort their stuff out when most of the time a quick restart or google will fix the issue ... people don't seem to want to try anything before they ring up. No way to rank...
