I worked at Geek Squad full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best people that you'll ever work with. Consistently different objectives and challenges to overcome. The company has a great training program in place for those that are newer to the field for all ages. Good opportunities for advancement, especially if you're willing to travel. Discount and accommodations are phenomenal, some of the best if not the best you'll find in the industry. Best Buy is one of the few retail chains that actually cares about its people and the benefits show that. 401(k), Stock Purchase Plans, health and wellness benefits, disability and unemployment filings, even a specialty hotline to assist those going through troubled times in their lives.

    Cons

Interaction with the general public; know what you're getting into, especially with technology. Certain upper management and company standards can be overbearing. Research the store that you're applying to beforehand. Shop there a few times and see what the atmosphere is. Be prepared for an A-B-C way of doing things before you join.

    Advice to Management

Try to be more open and receptive to your newer hires. Best Buy has a built-in training program for almost everything yet there are still those out there that refuse to look away from what they believe is right. If you have the right team and they trust you, anything is possible.

    Pros

    -Good corporate marketers and innovators.
-They are always one step ahead of the game.
    - They are really exited about their job.

    Cons

-Local management can suck at times. I had a pretty terrible supervisor but my DCS was pretty cool.
-The payment system is garbage. There is really no room for raises because the rate of pay you got in at is the rate you stay your whole career. meanwhile 3 years later a person can join and start with more money an hour than you. It kinda blows.

    Advice to Management

    Don't hire annoying people.

I worked at Geek Squad full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule, opportunities to learn about hardware and consumer software

    Cons

Performance trackers are only available on sales of services, which makes about 50 % of what you do, the other 50 % even if you are great at it, it may not be recognized as much

    Advice to Management

Have better performance trackers, not only for sales of service
