    Pros

the people are great and it is a job you can have fun with if you like tech. employee discount is the best out of any company if you like tech stuff. everyone is very friendly and its not a stressful sales. environment. pay starts alright and can get better with time.

    Cons

the store is a bit aged, since its older sometimes its hard to work with breaking down stuff. management can get rough at times it has gone through change, but none have ever been unbearable.

    Advice to Management

get settled and be more diligent of the employees, try to improve the store and get stuff working. get staff trained broadly.

I have been working at Geek Squad part-time

    Pros

Great for gaining experience in latest technologies and devices. Employees get great discounts, accommodations, often 50% or more off on certain products. Mostly good employees, with few exceptions

    Cons

Management doesn't always knows what they are doing, disorganization often leads to frustration of employees. It's retail, so you often have to do things you haven't applied for. Customers are absolutely ridiculous and unreasonable sometimes.

I worked at Geek Squad full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Teamwork, tons of back-end support, discounts and benefits packages are good. The fact you're working for a large company is nice, and there is a whole team working on the back end to make sure things work well. It's possible to move up and get promoted.

    Cons

The company simply is not what it once was- it's obvious that cost-cutting and over-compression have been the norm for many, many years. The company's culture, though once rich and quite fun, is now all but gone. The "fun" factor is dead, and the esprit-de-corps within the ranks is gone as well. It's about getting work done, going home, keeping your head down, and being dreadful of March every year (when the company is most likely to get reorganized and layoffs happen). There was once a mass layoff of field employees the *day before* Independence Day a few years ago. Imagine being told to wait by a phone for a phone call, and that call would be someone telling you (reading from a script) that they're sorry, but your position has been cut due to headcount reductions. Benefits have gotten worse, sadly, and the overall mood in the company has been lax at best.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent with your team, do not white-wash things insofar as that "everything is great" even though the teams are running thin and hours are getting lower. Please fix the hiring/separation policies. Stop making massive efforts to bust unions from forming. Allow employees to have a commission based on certain factors. Pay for certifications for the technicians like it once was, years ago. Revive the culture organically, not through a forced method to try to motivate the staff- it feels artificial.

    Pros

Good place to learn about computers and other consumer electronics. Also great if you enjoy interacting with people.

    Cons

My particular location didn't really have a manager knowledgeable in technology, mainly only operation. Some customers may sometimes be hard to work with.

    Advice to Management

Betters hands on training that is not limited to just shadowing current employees and taking e-learning.
