I worked at Geisinger full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I worked in a small department at Holy Spirit and loved my job. My supervisor and the director were encouraging, respectful, and always available. I looked forward to getting up every day and going into work. The health benefits (which included dental and vision) were great and tuition reimbersment was a plus.

    Cons

The pay for my position wasn't great, but I was afraid to negotiate when I was hired and was excited to have a decent job in my field of study.

    Advice to Management

Speaking for the department I worked in, we had a great team. The director was great and my supervisor always went above and beyond and was what every supervisor should be.

We’re glad to hear your experience at Geisinger was so positive but sorry to see that you left your position. We regularly reevaluate pay to stay competitive and encourage our employees to discuss any concerns with their supervisors – after all, they’re there to help!

I worked at Geisinger full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits , compensation..but then again they OWN you.

    Cons

Driven by poorly informed administration. Values they reportedly endorse are actually NOT a consideration. Work employees as if on an assembly line without regard for welfare of employees or patients. Human resources and administration do NOT have.............. " your back" or interest in mind, instead continue to act as a "yes man" as they try to keep their jobs. A lot of exceptional employees on...

    Advice to Management

Do the right thing for employees and patients. Multiple mid management job cuts understandably may lead to concern for your future. If you have any self worth , you already know that relinquishing your own personal values is not why you went into this field and comes at a cost ( and I am not referring to financial). It is harder to do the right thing, but at least you preserve your dignity...which at...

I worked at Geisinger full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The older docs still believe in patient care. Geisinger is pushing an “assembly line...get the patients in and out & get those numbers up” method. The insurance is affordable with the wellness plan . (Although their BMI calculating method is outdated.—luckily I’m not short)

    Cons

For a company that has this big-time personality test before hiring, they seem to be turning away good candidates and pulling in some lazy & rude employees. There’s a lot of bullying, backstabbing, and racism in this hospital and the practices. There’s nastiness towards patients. Management says they can’t do anything about it. Understaffing, The pay scale is way off. Employees are unappreciated and disrespected. There’s...

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Take care of problems as they start before they spiral out of control. Look at more than just that “Talent assessment” test for the decision of employment. It has nothing to do with talent. The ones that answer honestly are the ones that you are failing and the ones that lie are the ones that pass because they are putting down what you want to see! Think about it...

I worked at Geisinger full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

It was a clean , new facility that has cameras in the ceiling and many supervisors who audit charts and keep an eye on the employees. Disrespect is a right there they treat staff like prisoners

    Cons

Toxic work environment. Everyone tries to report their coworkers and get them fired. They fire people for any reason. Most facilities would give a warning first. Management is completely detached and unsupportive you can’t trust anyone in there. They have fired so many and they have no problem ruining careers and reputations Evil place. Don’t expose yourself to it

    Advice to Management

There is no fix for cruel. Some people are born that way

I have been working at Geisinger part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

After 10 years, there isn't any.

    Cons

The Emergency Room staff is treated horrible, unless, you're a nurse. Lower lever staff such as techs, secretaries and aides aren't appreciated for how hard they work and what they do.

    Advice to Management

I've worked at holy for over 10 years and when Geisinger came through they lowered the pay in all departments, trying to cut costs. After 10 years of aquried raises, I was informed by HR over a phone call that they were cutting my pay. Very unethical. The entire hospital has went downhill and they are losing experienced staff due to low wages, short staffing and lack of care from management. I'm not sure how well they...

I worked at Geisinger part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Busy floor with a lot of patient activity. Keeps the job from getting boring because you never really know what's going to happen around you during your shift

    Cons

The job by itself is repetitive and not very challenging. Lots of filing and record keeping. No promotion opportunities and on average 50 cent raises. Once you meet the maximum hourly wage for your position, you will receive a small bonus, but no raise.
