    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Geisinger full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

there is absolutely nothing positive or productive to comment on.

    Cons

This by far was the most racist unethical place I have worked in my life. The favoritism runs the clinic and if you are of minority decent, you will be stigmatized and degraded. Human Resources does not care anything about the employees and there is no union to speak on your behalf even if its the truth. The gossip and rumors fuel the clinic across the board and the radiology and lab departments come to work to socialize....

I worked at Geisinger full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

    It's a local business.

    Cons

They eliminated my position after 15 years. They didn't have the decency to give me a heads up. They wouldn't let me take any of my personal things with me, nor did they allow me to say goodbye to my colleagues. I felt like a common criminal. I was told that my being let go was without cause, but they really disrespected me and made me feel like a piece of trash. I worked there for 15 years and was kicked out in 15 minutes!...

    Advice to Management

Value your employees! They are the ones who make you look good. They are the ones in the trenches working their fingers to the bone. Show them some appreciation by giving them significant raises, instead of making sure your own bonus is secure! Don't play favorites, or at least don't be so blatantly obvious about it. Do more than grunt at your employees in the morning and be understanding when personal troubles are tough...

I have been working at Geisinger full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Geisinger takes their commitment to employees seriously. The health benefits are outstanding, provided through the insurance arm of the organization. The company promotes growth from within and continuing education, including tuition reimbursement. Overall, the employees are kind and care deeply for the patients, clients, members and their community.

      Cons

Some departments have incredibly high turnover, especially in the support areas, and many of the locations Geisinger has properties, including the headquarters, are in small towns. Although bigger cities are within a 2.5 or 3 hour drive, it's still some distance away. Some may have a difficult time adjusting to small town life, and many employees within the organization were born, raised or moved back to the area of employment.
