I have been working at General Atomics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun people, approachable management, benefits

    Cons

    Lack of accountability, interdepartmental communication

    Advice to Management

Encourage communication between departments and cross-training. Work more towards long-term solutions instead of just short-term ones that are more costly in the long run. Use systems and programs to their full potential. Otherwise keep treating your employees well and nurturing your caring company culture as you grow!

I have been working at General Atomics (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are better than average, especially with off-Fridays.

    Cons

HR needs lots of work to be fairer about who gets promotions when. They also need to learn to look outside of "traditional" qualifications of purely education.

    Advice to Management

Teach HR to think outside of the box.

I have been working at General Atomics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Industry-leading products, focused on the war fighter, business unit to larger company with diverse products and services, sometimes dynamic projects.

    Cons

Communication is difficult, people don't return phone calls and ignore emails, treat other departments as competition instead of team mates

    Advice to Management

There are dozens of executive parking spots at each building, there are parking spots for the people who come to visit executives, and spots for executives who come to visit from other buildings.....but maybe 1 or 2 handicap spots and no spots for employee of the month. Executive spots are closer to the doors than the majority of the handicapped spots. Also, counseling is done once a year and you don't know what you need to do to compete for a promotion or if you did anything wrong until the annual counseling comes around, and by then, it's too late to do anything about it until next year. All you're ever told is "keep doing what you're doing, you're doing a great job!" Advice is, treat your people with a little more recognition (currently zero recognition programs for achievement I. The workforce, but regular awards and recognition for program managers and above) instead of taking away their parking spots and making them available for an executive who might come to the building to visit.

I have been working at General Atomics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Health care benefits, time off

    Cons

Fractured company, poor leadership, good ole boys mentality. Many exempt employees seem to get away with working less than 40 hours per week.

    Advice to Management

Spread the wealth with lower echelons. A raise of less than 3% when one is already making less than others is a joke. Ranking sucks for those in support roles. HR is useless & not there to support employees, just to protect the company.

Work on retention and employee morale
