I have been working at General Atomics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good, infrastucture is good and getting better.

    Cons

Demographic balance is appalling. The level of basic educational knowledge and the abilities of many employees should be questioned. Manufacturing aeronautical structures requires fundamental skills that are not present due to the following: English is not the primary language of the workforce. If you can't speak or read in English, how do you interpret blueprints or understand engineering concepts? Training would be a good answer if you understood English. There are few lead personnel who are bilingual, yet do not fully comprehend what is involved in building a composite aircraft structure. There are numerous production personnel who can't read a label/direction/or use a gram scale to mix materials in accordance with manufacturer or GA instruction. The ignorance and unwillingness to change is a problem. Eliminate these problems and your productivity will excel. The aforementioned causes the greater percentage of quality defects that occur on a daily basis.

    Advice to Management

Management is the problem. If you are hiring people because of ethnicity and not skill, face the eventual problems that will occur.

    Pros

You will never be bored. If you can walk, chew gum, and juggle at the same time, this is a good place for you.

    Cons

Increasingly compartmentalized corporate structure, but a still has the illusion of a "Just get it done" philosophy.
Same, multi-system, mishmosh of resources that plague other companies who fail to integrate legacy data into a new systems.

I worked at General Atomics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work is super easy and non-challenging at all. Easy way to milk a paycheck doing the bare minimum.

    Cons

Management is poor and doesn't provide any training or direction. For the first month I worked here I wasn't given anything to do, the person that was supposed to be training me came by for 30 minutes on Monday afternoon and read a power-point presentation to me and then told me to spend the rest of the week going over that. I told the manager that this wasn't working, she said every week that she would get on it and set me up properly. I would walk around asking other people if they had stuff for me to do and they would usually act like I wasn't there or tell me they didn't have anything to do. After about a month of this I was able to scratch together little things to do but seriously, a whole department of 20-30 people who never had anything to do, wasting your money!

    Advice to Management
