I have been working at General Atomics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The combination of private ownership, government contracting, market space dominance, critical mission focus, long-term growth & stability, and top-tier people make this an outstanding career company.

    Cons

Not a gold-plated salary company. If you're looking for the big bucks or dramatic pay increases, this ain't the place.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in training and retention.

I have been working at General Atomics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to innovate and work with really smart people. 9/80 work schedule, pension and 401k. Rapid growth means lots of opportunities to advance. Promotions are based much more on contribution to the product, than time with the company, or amount of overtime worked.

    Cons

People whe were here when the company was vdry small are disproportionately in high positions of leadership, and many of them are not that great at leading. While promotions are based on merit, raises seem to be generally the same for everyone and usually not that great.

    Advice to Management

Recognize employees for their contributions. There is a lot of great work happening, but people rarely get recognized for it. Hold poor employees accountable for underperformance, or help them find other jobs tbey can succeed in.
