I worked at General Cable full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Quality products and the pay is average

    Cons

Dysfunctional leadership especially HR. Not much room for career growth especially for women. Having been worked for almost a decade with the same associate position despite of hard work with all my heart and soul, and in the end have been found a reason to be kicked out because of a bad leadership was totally disrespecting and bad for my career.

    Advice to Management

Treat people fairly. The management must know how to bring out the best in its people. Talented people are your human capital, they must be treated well regardless of gender, motivate them to retain for long term.

I have been working at General Cable full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is decent for the role. Leadership doesn't tend to micromanage.

    Cons

Many jobs do not get posted and promotions are just given to people that don't even show interest in a job. There is a huge disconnect between the plants and corporate. Corporate makes decisions that affects the plants negatively without seeking input. HRIS systems are nonexistent.

    Advice to Management

Actually have values that are consistent with the actions of the company.

I worked at General Cable full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is good and the products sold are of decent quality. Benefits are average for an American company. Most facilities are US based. If you are a "yes" person, you will go far.

    Cons

Horrible, HORRIBLE culture. About 40 years behind the times. IT department is a joke. HR is laughable. Sales Management trains people like used car salespeople. Not a lot of respect within the industry for the people in the sales roles or management. No understanding of true account management. The sales force lacks a lot of insight into the market and the strategy needed to be successful.

Product development side makes many promises with no way to deliver. Again, no cohesive strategy.

    Advice to Management

    This is for the CEO...

The management needs a serious cleansing. Stronger leadership is needed on the product development side. Also, think of getting a true marketing department but with strong knowledge in the technical aspect of the business. You will never retain top talent with the current management. Saw many talented people leave rather than bang their heads against the wall.
