I worked at General Dynamics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interesting M&A of good technologies. Solid engineering staffs. Wide reaching networks globally enable access to key accounts.

    Cons

Management at the sector Presidential level was very weak. Export controls need to be staffed with personnel who want to help the business and adhere to the law. I knew of many cases where someone who was lets just say "radicalized" was allowed to obfuscate paperwork and supplied false information to legal and got innocent people fired.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who love this country and are not the enemy within. Better screen management for people who actually understand the technology for which they are charged with supervising.

I have been working at General Dynamics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The office location is perfect. The procedures and processes are ethical and followed.

    Cons

Upper management lacks vision and losing work base. The benefits have been drastically cut to cut costs. However no new work seems to be coming in based on lower costs.

    Advice to Management

Focus business development and invest in growing business.

"They have lost there way as a technology development company!"

    Pros

Benifits package and vacation time is very good.

    Cons

They seem to think that engineering staff are here to serve the "professional staff". The company is turning into an admin company not a development company. But it’s not surprising when all of the senior management is accountants and lawyers not engineers.

    Advice to Management

Refocus on being a technology company again. The paper pushers are here only to execute what technologies that are developed. And ask your self why is hundreds of thousands of dollars set aside to get a degree in business management but none to take refresher courses in the latest technologies coming down the pike, just because it’s not a degree course! So what your saying is as an engineer I can get a paid for degree in accounting but I can’t stay current in my field?
