    Pros

The medical benefits are good but raises suck. Sales are strong, even in the down-turned economy. No fear of being layed off or fired (no one wants to come work here). The company has very little success in acquiring talent professionals.

    Cons

Management is a joke. I believe this problem starts from the top. To much of the good old boys network going on. Talent here is slowly slipping away. Project time lines are ludicrous. Quality of the products being shipped from this facility is questionable at best. I'm just glad I'm not out in a military zone counting on our equipment for survival.

    Advice to Management

Take some management classes and make an effort to make positive changes in the work environment. The lack of good management decisions can't be negated by mandatory overtime by both salary and hourly workers.

    Pros

General Dynamics SATCOM offers great products for the satellite industry. Their mix of both commercial and defense related items positions them to be a company that you could potentially stay with long term. They offer a decent benefits package.

    Cons

Local corporate culture hugely favors profitability at the expense of really good people.

There is no healthy balance between management and the employee base.

HR does not have the resources to properly represent the employees. There is one HR manager responsible for two manufacturing facilities in two states with over 300 employees. Without proper HR representation, management often utilizes a free pass to make decisions based on the "good ol' boy" club.

It is a very flat organization and opportunities for promotion are limited.

    Advice to Management

They need to better represent the employee base through increased HR resources. This increased representation may help operations management understand the importance of a healthy balance between profitability and the employees that help them be profitable.
