I worked at General Dynamics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The hours are reasonable and the pay is great for the work being done

    Cons

Very strict on time constraints and no flexibility. Must stay put for 8 hrs a day and sometimes very boring with someone always looking over your shoulder.

    Advice to Management

Treat people as you would want to be treated. There are all types of people that work there and they all have different backgrounds and are quite intelligent.

    Pros

Pros....vaguely saying, it wad okay. I adjust to change fine, but is a company suppose to change as much as it did!

    Cons

Not enough ETO or sick leave. I wouldn't go back. When I left I had a sense of relief, sad to say!

Pays 100% medical benefits for employees.

    Cons

Paying too much into contract negotiations and not enough time into the employees.

    Pros

Time cards are easy to process with just "1-click" daily. Decent benefits. Allow employees a high degree of autnomy.

    Cons

Management does nothing to support or nurture its employees. No sick leave, just general leave to use as necessary. Highly-structured goal and review process; little actual variable input by the employee allowed.

    Advice to Management

Remember: in the grand scheme of things, your employees are "customers", too, and they should be nurtured, encouraged, rewarded, and supported at all times.

I have been working at General Dynamics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work hours depending on the manager. Newly renovated facility. Equitable compensation package with bonus structure. Plenty of parking. Great office views. Typical DCAA environment.

    Cons

Senior leadership is in-bred and ineffective at rallying the workforce. The GMs hide from anyone not VP or higher, and P&L is a simple exercise of balancing manpower through RIFs, and seeking profit through key hires that can bring in contracts as well as acquisitions to similarly build confidence with shareholders.

    Advice to Management

The management team at General Dynamics Information Technology will never read this, but possibly mid-level management will, but is hopeless to change anything. For those folks in the middle, I recommend giving it your best to connect with senior leaders at a personable level for three to five years. If you are not promoted in that time, options are to stick it out and either fight annually to prove your low on OH and a contributor for revenue, or find someplace else before you are RIF'd as it is only a matter of time.

I have been working at General Dynamics as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Cool technology to work on. Good management within the group I worked. Strong rates for contractors.

    Cons

GD seems to have trouble staying on time and on budget with large projects. They let contractors go over employees in spite of technical needs. Building is old and drafty.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep the talent you need so that you don't lose them to competitors. Keep a more stable amount of work even if some is commercial/IRAD.

    Pros

it is a decent place to work, good pay but lots of hard work. Lots of working under pressure to satisfy the army.

    Cons

bosses are unappreciative of hard work. Not all tools that are needed they do not provide to get the job done

    Advice to Management

reward workers for the hard work. help members advance in their careers to advance

I have been working at General Dynamics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice benefits, can obtain work all over the US with the government and/or aerospace (92,000 employees). Security clearances are needed depending on position and good to have. 401K match on day one.

    Cons

Government contract work, so if contract is not renewed one is out of work and I'm unsure at this point if management deems to keep employees on and helps them look for additional opportunities prior to contract end or not. TBD

    Advice to Management

Please add Pension back in addition to 401K match
