    Pros

*Great training when you first get on the job - they are really focused on developing you
*Lots of visibility with senior management, and the ability to network with others
*Surrounded by people who love their job, and in turn, you love to be at work. Always willing to help you out and truly care about your development
*Best benefits/compensation when compared to similar positions

    Cons

*The way they promote you is pretty rigid, and isn't very flexible (you are expected to stay within a position for a set amount of time before being able to move on to your next role)
*Their locations aren't always ideal and are somewhat limiting

    Advice to Management

I'm really amazed by the amount of exposure that new hires get with senior and executive management. Keep up the great work!

    Pros

General Mills allows for open communication as well as innovative ideas. The Company wants all if its employees to succeed, knowing that the Company will do better with employees who are content.

    Cons

It takes too long to try something new. The culture of General Mills is to always try to be nice, but sometimes to get things done, you have to get in peoples faces and ruffle feathers.

    Advice to Management

Try to stay away from micro management styles. Get the input from the floor employees early on in the process and make them feel like they are part of the solution, not like the solution is being forced on them.

-Great experience and the ability to work in different categories, brands, consumer segments
-Highly valued support function that is heavily relied upon
-Considerable amount of influence in all major decisions

    Cons

Very mid-western culture so lots of nonverbal and not direct feedback
    Not good at handling conflict

    Advice to Management

Be innovate, take risks and encourage the managers/directors to support these. Even programs that were put into place to encourage bold ideas have now been watered down to support existing leadership ideas.

    Pros

    - A company that embraces families and strives to impact the community.
    - Excellently educated people are abundant.
    - Opportunities to grow your career are plentiful.

    Cons

    - I cannot think of a single negative - perhaps lower compensation. What you lose in direct compensation is gained in benefits and productive work environment.

    Advice to Management

continue on current course. Well done! The people, process, and technology within the organization is terrific. The ability to screen people that might pollute the environment is awesome.

    Pros

Great co workers, leadership, enviroment, opportunities, and culture. If I owned a company, I would try to hire most of my peers.

    Cons

A minor complaint is that face to face and collaborative environment can make getting things done cumbersome at times, but it also helps you to get some good feeback.

    Advice to Management

Keep thinking long term. This oasis of a company is only sustainable, if you think long term and often beyond your tenure as opposed to short term.
