I have been working at Genesis HealthCare (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Close to home. Great residents. Can count on a number of people who are awesome teammeambers. Chances to grow in this industry. Lots of on the job training.

    Cons

A lot of micro-management. A lot of favoritism with long standing employees vs new members. Workload is more than the allotted hours given. Lower pay than the average given from a corporation other than Genesis.

    Advice to Management

When assigning new responsibilities or policies please think of how many hours that takes to not only get the task started but finishing it. I have seen a lot of good, hard working people leave due to high workload and below average pay. This is something I am considering.......

    Pros

Many opportunities to travel within the company

    Cons

Like most health care companies these days, Genesis cares more about productive employees than quality employees

    Advice to Management

Don't let the pressure from those above you cause you to pressure those below you to be unethical in their patient care.

    Pros

    flexible work hours, friendly coworkers

    Cons

no salary increases for years. more and more and more responsibilities dumped on remaining employees after many rounds of layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Clinicians are the revenue generators, we get it. You still have to care about corporate employees.

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The actual job is easy. The union reply actually attempts to do what they can

    Cons

They pay is terrible you get no raises the facility is not. Gated on the outside so our cars get broken into and stolen. They won't reimburse you or even attempt to make sure there is a working camera

    Pros

Love my fellow employees, flexibility as far as scheduling to an extent, although salary positions based on a 40 hour week and you should expect to put in a lot more than that.

    Cons

Executive Director and corporate are money hungry and it is painfully ovbious that they don't care about the residents at all, only their insurance and ability to pay. They continually cut staff and have high turnover due to that and low pay. People are wising up, staff and potential residents and going elsewhere. Benefits are so expensive.

    Advice to Management

Spend money where it is needed and your revenue would increase. Treat your employees better and stop forcing them to work short and compromise resident care and safety.
