I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good, talented team of therapists who all care about the residents. Decent starting pay. Plenty of opportunity for overtime at other facilities available.

    Cons

Some facilities are better than others. Getting the “minutes” in for residents is priority. Only Christmas and Thanksgiving are paid holidays and you still have to make those days up on a weekend day.

    Advice to Management

A little bit more employee recognition for the better therapists goes a long way.

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy work, friendly environment, residents are nice, never a dull day

    Cons

Low pay, little room for growth or raises, run by a corporation that only cares about residents paying their rent. Supervision is not very professional and does not know how to treat or talk to their employees in an appropriate way.

    Advice to Management

Management should get training on how to be better supervisors to their employees

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The other therapists I work with are all very talented and committed to providing the very best patient care. And the patients themselves are awesome!

    Cons

Emphasis on “ getting minutes”. This company clearly cares more about making money than they do their staff. Only 2 paid holidays, 2 years without any salary increases.

    Advice to Management

Even though you are a very large company you should find a way to make each employee feel like they matter. They are the ones providing the care that generates your income.

    Pros

Many free courses to take online, I have never paid for a CEU. Mentorships for new employees and a lot of initial training.

    Cons

Buildings not kept up. Important systems often break. Poor, falling apart equipment and difficulty to obtain new equipment for patients at times.

    Advice to Management

Put more money into equipment and keeping up buildings.

    Pros

    Competitive wage, bonus, and residents

    Cons

Wolfeboro facility permits on-going harrassment by both staff and residents to continue. Management can be impartial due to friendlier relationship with the harrasser.

    Advice to Management

Balance business and personal relationship discriminately.
