I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits and employee assistance. Bonuses given for half or more shift worked that's not scheduled!

    Cons

Poor management, staffing concerns is a huge issue that seems to not be addressed as a serious issue! Both with R.N.s and C.N.A.s! Complaints to administrator, regional manager, and corporate office has yielded no further advertising for employment!

    Advice to Management

Look and listen to your employees! A lot of reviews seem to list staffing concerns!

    Pros

The best reasons to work here are the residents. Love my fellow nurses as well. They make my day, everyday.

    Cons

Administration. She has no clinical experience and only sees dollar signs. Our facility could be 5 star as long as wiser decisions are made on staffing and environmental issues.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff and residents.

I worked at Genesis HealthCare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's a job. Very disappointed with Genesis! Most good ones quit.

    Cons

Management, above director, pay for most, according to who you are determines how much money you make, not what you do, or how hard you work. If you are looking for equal fair treatment....keep looking!

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and give them chances to tell you about management issues with out feeling like you will blot their name out of book of Genesis. Trust your employees more than your COAD'S and Senior AD's....They are the ones paying the salaries!

    Pros

Cant think of one but need at least 5 words

    Cons

    pay, budget cuts, management, benefits

    Advice to Management

If you paid a decent salary your turn over would go down and in turn you would save more money than by trying to cut holiday pay and salary

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is decent. Benefits are better than many places at this point in time. No complaints from admin about overtime or not getting done/off on time. Some really good CNAs and nurses. Very good therapists.

    Cons

Old building with seriously outdated electrical wiring, roaches everywhere. Very short staffed. CNAs routinely care for 20 to 30 residents each. Nursing admin attitude negative. No positive feedback at all. More important to blame someone for the problem than to *fix* the problem. Frequent disrespect of employees by superiors/supervisors.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with respect. Ask your questions, then close your mouth and LISTEN to the answers rather than continuing to talk and blame and find fault. Encourage your employees. Appreciate them and the many, many hours they work to help 'cover' staffing. Talk to the residents. They can tell you which staff members are your hardest workers, most dependable, most compassionate. They can also tell you which staff members are rude and/or have nasty attitudes towards families, residents, and other staff. It's not the administrative nurses who make or break your facility. It's the CNAs and hall nurses who are in the trenches, doing the actual hands-on, day to day care. When you lose them, you have nothing to offer your clientele.

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only thing that I can say good about this company is that it is close to my home.

    Cons

They hire inexperienced foreigners and put them in charge (That is a joke). There Insurance is extremely expensive and doesn't cover much more than an office visit. Management has no sack to stand up to these ridiculous DOR's that they put in charge only because they can bully them and not pay them what the should make and they continually try to drive salaries down.

    Advice to Management

Don't for get who makes money for you and pay us well. Hire American and stop boasting about you are the largest company in the United States and act like it instead. Here is a novel idea pay some of the insurance cost and compensate your employees.
