Patient safety and care is NOT their priority

Dec 3, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in Charles Town, WV

    Pros

The residents are the only positive

    Cons

The residents are mistreated and not cared for at all. Upper management does not care at all. You will be threatened with being fired if you bring items to the residents. (This was during COVID lockdown when some have no one to bring them items they need and they can’t go out: items as simple as gum and a charger for the residents phone)

Upper management only care about themselves.

    Pros

Immediate co-workers were amazing and got to grow and learn from my Administrator and fellow nirsras

    Cons

Cooperate never took the time to get to know employees and residents. Only care about money in their pockets. Never gave recognition. One nurse was allowed to scream at employees in front of families of potential residents and call people racist. This company has everything all wrong! They got 5 million dollars raises while the front line workers got emails like, your census is low cut your employees hours but when you need them expect them to right back at their command! Never seen people only care about money and nothing else, they don’t even try to get to know your name.

Run as far as you can from this place

Jul 6, 2021 - Certified Nursing Assistant CNA in High Point, NC
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

A little more pay than expected

    Cons

Literally everything. Short staff, rude coworkers who steal your supplies and refuse to help you. Lazy nurses who make you get their supplies while they FaceTime their boyfriend all night, and then go sleep in one of the empty beds. Patients who hit you, cuss at you, call you names, sexually harass you. Coworkers who don’t bathe or clean their residents properly, and when you go to report them the don and head nurse do nothing about it. They literally do not care. Do not walk, but run as far from this place as you can.

    Pros

    None... None... None.... None... None

    Cons

They do not care about their residents or employees. If you want a job where you can work 30:1 for 12 to 16 hours a day then this is for you.

The residents are neglected due to Inadequate staffing!

Mar 31, 2021 - Licensed Nursing Assistant LNA

    Pros

The residents make all the difference when it comes to staying at this facility and not looking at employment elsewhere.

    Cons

Census is based off the ACU. Long Term Care residents essential do not matter when they are scheduling LNAs to care for these people! 🤬

    Worst professional experience

May 5, 2021 - Vice President of Operations in Las Vegas, NV

    Pros

No direction from corporate so you can really just do everything how you want

    Cons

Zero corporate support Genesis owns 50% of the company and a joint venture partner (who actually operates the buildings) makes all of the decisions You never know who to follow and they would routinely give conflicting and opposite direction The policies and training are so outdated that your competitors are crushing you and your team The joint venture operator is a disaster and they never want to assist you If you ask for assistance, they will push you aside, take over your facilities, and look to push you out They do not care about the employees or the residents. During Covid a lot of staff got sick. They told the employees they would not approve unemployment, they needed to apply through workers comp insurance first. They did this knowing their work comp carrier was not going to even look at the claims for 120 to 150 days after application. So the employees, many of which that live paycheck to paycheck, simply got zero assistance from unemployment or workers comp. The company attitude was “we will bleed them out until they have to come back to work because they can’t afford not to”. They also cut all of the floor staffing during the pandemic to avoid using agency. This left the floors working with one nurse to 35-50 residents and 1 CNA per 20-30 patients regularly. I have run facilities for 20 plus years and never seen staffing that low. It’s not only unsafe but unethical and immoral. Did not get a single day of vacation in a year and a half and they refused to pay my vacation out. I worked 7 days a week for 18 months and could not get a day off The company is likely going bankrupt as they were delisted to the pink sheets and their stock has plummeted to .25 and as low as .15 cents a share. Their CEO took a 6.2 million dollar “retention bonus” and then retired anyway...but kept his money. They are now on their 3rd CEO in as many months. They had to sell their 9 most profitable facilities and walked away from 51 facilities. Their previous CEO gave a “going forward” statement warning of bankruptcy and things have gotten worse, not better, since he issued that statement. They chose to delist to avoid releasing their financial statements. And still have not released their 4th quarter statements.

    RCA nurse

Sep 17, 2020 - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Albuquerque, NM
    Recommend
    CEO Approval

    Pros

Pay rate is exceptional for long term care facilities. Opportunity for overtime for those wanting it. Skill building opportunities. Having an in house nurse practitioner is a bonus to both nursing and residents!

    Cons

Extreme lack of communication between management, nursing, therapy, etc. Often getting residents transferred to your unit with no notice. Frequently dangerously understaffed. Very high turn over rate for new staff.
