I worked at Gensler full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The ability to grow in the firm and the work life balance is pretty decent.

    Cons

Management needs to be improved. You are sometimes treated as a number rather than a person. They use you here for the full advantage of the companies benefit. Most of the time the company thrives on you competing with your peers on projects instead of working together to come up with the solution.

I worked at Gensler as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

New York office was great for interns as they had a dedicated intern program with about 40 other interns.

    Cons

Studio I was placed in had me do a lot of work that ultimately was a waste of time.

I have been working at Gensler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Gensler possesses the talent, resources and standing of a world class firm yet the studio environment has the intimacy of a small office.
I have been able to pursue my own interests and tie them to my work life, for example being able to participate in and create my own mentor programs within the firm.
The people are generally amazing and very nice.
The work life balance is pretty good, if you find yourself working in a good project which most are.

    Cons

Although we have a strong vision as firm, it can sometimes feel fabricated and forced upon us. The culture at our particular office has changed and evolved over my first four years.
Some projects can be tedious, long and repetitive with long hours and if you find yourself stuck on them it is very hard to get out and stay motivated.

    Advice to Management

Invest in mentoring the younger employees as it can be the reason they stay motivated, continue to grow and ultimately stay with the firm. In my case I've had very good opportunities and strong mentor relationships but I know of some coworkers at my level who have not had the same fortune as me.

I have been working at Gensler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They never fire anyone and reward bad behavior so if you're looking to slack and get paid, this is the place for you. It's great to never get fired no matter how little you work!

    Cons

They pay people off to shut down stories of sexual harassment. They admit they are not a meritocracy. This office is a machine for mediocrity.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing a game thinking the juniors have no brains.

I have been working at Gensler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing variety of projects, good clients and nice offices. Great skilled people from different sectors, good retirement plan and medical insurance.

    Cons

Really bad salaries, and very low annual increases too. They ask for the extra mile, but they don't reflect the new positions with new salaries. Been associate to the firm do not reflect nothing in your salarie.
