I worked at Gensler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing culture. Incredible work. Wonderful people.

    Cons

Growing too fast. Politics. Makes it hard to advance.

    Advice to Management

Give the younger designers a moment to shine. A chance to present work... even if we aren't the most senior. We might surprise you.

I have been working at Gensler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get great project opportunities and are able to have a lot of autonomy to do great things.

    Cons

Poor management in some offices. Work life balance not always great. Problems seem to persist because the same management and leadership is in place.

I worked at Gensler (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of good clients and projects. Overall having talent and smart colleges to work with, especially in architecture area...

    Cons

overload a lot. Comparing the pay and overtime, the pay is not good.

    Advice to Management

Higher pay, and allow staff to try new things - don't just figure out what hey're good at and keep them doing that ONE thing. Encourage a better work/life balance.

    Pros

Even though it is the largest architecture firm in the world, it manages to avoid some typical issues of the corporate world. It is successful at making the company feel like a smaller design firm at times. And the culture of the company is top notch for design firms.

    Cons

Though it doesn't always feel extremely corporate, the inevitability of the size of the company is that some aspects will always be corporate (I.e., time sheets). This means you can often find yourself spending far more than 40 hours a week at the office but only 40 might be "billable".
