    Pros

    A lot of room for growth and advancement if you have the right criteria they are looking for. Company supports family obligations and is very understanding. Great atmosphere around everywhere you go.

    Cons

    Low pay compared to a lot of places. Bonuses make up a lot though.

    Pros

    Growing but is slowing down

    Cons

    base pay is below market average. Using bonus' and stock to "offset" that but the stock has been worthless for years.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of stock options and give out raises across the board.

    Feels like you're in HS all over with all the drama. Long hours, bad communication.

    Pros

    Good pay and excellent health insurance quarterly bonuses with a Christmas bonus based on sales and growth of the company.

    Cons

    Condemning management and unprofessional coworkers. There is never a perfect job but the level of high school maturity is outstanding.

    Advice to Management

    Care more about your workers while still maintains realistic expectations for a bottom line.

    Pros

    Innovative culture, ability to move to different areas within the company, opportunities to learn new skills, take classes, etc. Tries to maintain a small-company feel even as it grows. Stock options and quarterly bonuses.

    Cons

    The pay is lower than competitors, and talented engineers often leave and make 15-20% more elsewhere (although this can potentially be offset by bonuses and stock options). When salaries do increase for new hires because they can't get people to accept offers, new hires with no experience end up making as much or more than people with much more experience.

    Pros

    Company had very large bonuses averaging from 16-22% quarterly (taxed a ton as all bonuses are). Many different areas doing vastly different things and using different technology. There is a lot of different jobs you can move in to and advancing technology you can learn. However,......

    Cons

    Pay was and still is to my knowledge WELL below industry standard. Production Support Engineers start out around $40k a year, that's with a shift premium and working on an off shift. It's hard to get from an off shift to days. Do your research, you can easily make $15-20k a year more in this area. The jobs that are available too you are vast, however there is quite the sense of brother-hood and commaraderie that makes a lot of them difficult to obtain. They tend to lead you in the direction of where they need you, not what's best for you long term. A lot of demand, and poorly planned resources means you work a ton of overtime and weekends.

    Advice to Management

    Focus more on your entry-to-mid level engineers (or any employee in general) and focus on what they want to do long term and what their strengths are. Also, readdress your pay scale. This would be highly beneficial in retaining very qualified, driven individuals.

    I have been working at Gentex (Michigan) full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good management style and good compensation coming right out of college. Daily challenges. Love to promote from within. Free to pursue projects that I'm interested in rather than having mundane tasks thrown at me.

    Cons

    None that I can think of being a relatively new employee. The initial training process could be better because technicians that did not work on the lines before such as myself can take a while to understand what is going on, wasting time of that person being effective.

    Advice to Management

    Create a way for new technicians to start being effective faster. That may be a formal training manual or more organized mentorship. This being said, a person with a technical background should be fine after a few months.

    I worked at Gentex (Michigan) (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Clean, quiet, and pretty easy work.

    Cons

    The employees on the assembly line receive only a 10-minute break halfway through the day, and then a 20-minute break an hour before the end of the day. Scheduling time off is nearly impossible for newer employees too.

    Advice to Management

    Loyal employees should not have to wait 6 months to reapply.
