    Pros

Coworkers were for the most part pleasant to work with. Made lasting friendships with some of them.

    Cons

Tons of micro-management. Oppressive work atmosphere. Money is the bottom line with this organization. They do not care about the needs of the elderly. It's all about the money.

    Advice to Management

Total restructuring of management starting at the top.

I have been working at Gentiva full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The local office personnel were great to work with across the board, including fellow clinicians, supervising staff and office staff.

    Cons

Upper level management employs too many who are paid to run metrics on everything under the sun and have too much time to point out more and more nonsense ways for the clinicians to duplicate information on our notes that are already way too long. The higher level management has lied about matters as well. I do not want to work for this type of organization that apparently condones these actions and lies from more than one person.

    Advice to Management

Listen to some to the fine Ted talks out their that describe how management ought to be treating their employees so they will become eager, dedicated and more productive, rather than feeling used by and tread upon by the company's chain of command.

I worked at Gentiva full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Money and the sweet patients, that's about it.

Even the money isn't really a pro though because you work a lot of overtime due to the paperwork that your salary is really less if you calculate actual hours worked.

    Cons

Ok, where do I begin.. When I was first hired I was told my schedule would be flexible and I could take my child to appointments, go home after my patients were seen, etc... Lies. I think they told me this to reel me in because I took my child to an appointment at 3pm after all my patients were seen and my work was done for the day and my manager made the remark that this was an '8-5 job' so she made me feel guilty for taking him to the appointment... And the 'flexibility' is the reason I took the job in the first place.

First of all my territory (which I was forced to take after I was there for 3 months and had a different case load which I was getting familiar with) was so large that it took me 30 min just to get from patient to patient, sometimes longer! If I ever did get off early I had to park somewhere to finish my paperwork then go get my child, come home, call patients for the next day (which took about 30-45 min) Then chart even longer for 1-2 hours each night and more times than not I STILL wouldn't be finished. So even if I did finish early just the paperwork side to it was hours on end! I got burnt out very quickly and I was working well over 40 hours a week and it felt like I was working for free because you're paid per unit. :(

The Oasis was beyond ridiculous, 34 pages for a SOC! I am very OCD about my paperwork and having it right and I think that hurt me because the paperwork took me longer.

I read many negative reviews before I started concerning terrible work/life balance but I thought it was just disgruntled former employees, but the truth is I should have listened.

    Advice to Management

Hire more RN's per branch to share the Oasis.

Don't lie about flexibility if in reality there is none!

    Pros

Review for Hospice: Decedent Pay....otherwise I have nothing further. Affiliated with Kindred (values are not in line yet)

    Cons

Hospice side is Heavily micro managed. Corporate is nasty, bullies branch management, and will retaliate if you dare speak up. Extremely rude and disrespectful culture. Extremely high turnover rate with Senior management as well as branch staff. Large Dictatorship. Zero work/life balance.
