    I worked at Gentiva full-time

    Pros

Hospice work is rewarding. I enjoyed my coworkers and clients. The office was clean.

    Cons

Focus is too much on quantity versus quality. Policies and procedures change quickly. Not enough emphasis placed on team cohesion. Lots of turnover.

    Advice to Management

It would be helpful if the managers knew what it was like to carry a homecare hospice caseload. Management also needs to focus on leadership training.

I have been working at Gentiva full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The local office personnel were great to work with across the board, including fellow clinicians, supervising staff and office staff.

    Cons

Upper level management employs too many who are paid to run metrics on everything under the sun and have too much time to point out more and more nonsense ways for the clinicians to duplicate information on our notes that are already way too long. The higher level management has lied about matters as well. I do not want to work for this type of organization that apparently condones these actions and lies from more than one person.

    Advice to Management

Listen to some to the fine Ted talks out their that describe how management ought to be treating their employees so they will become eager, dedicated and more productive, rather than feeling used by and tread upon by the company's chain of command.

    I worked at Gentiva full-time

    Pros

I loved visiting patients, plenty of accountability but light day to day supervision.

    Cons

It is a large corporation and acts like one, despite the caring words.

    Advice to Management

Your field emplyees will work to the bone out of love for our patients, but the pay without raises and low mileage reimbursment eventually burn out our bodies and our cars. Recognize this with more cash to go with the atta girls/boys. I didn't end up feeling truly valued...just easily replaced. (FYI, I was not fired :-) Good benefits though.
