      Pros

Let's clear some fog from other reviews. Regardless of the company, there will always be those who feel entitled or more valuable than they actually are. Consistent, accurate work is rewarded. I've personally witnessed several people move about within the company, from position to position. I also know of several corporate employees who were once NAPA store associates. Anyone that says there's no movement within the company isn't looking or lacks the aptitude to fill a position. There are several physical corporate locations that are under the GPC umbrella; I'll comment on 3100 in Wildwood. A former IBM building located in a wooded area with covered parking and access to Chattahoochee natural trail system. There's a small cafe open for breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Beverage coolers are located on all building levels and are stocked with sodas and juices (this also includes the HQ building). 401K and health benefits are excellent and there's no shortage of options to choose from. Salaries are competitive with any other Fortune 200 company. If you're offered a position, most of us know that this is the time to negotiate salary and PTO options. Being corporate, annual reviews are precise and timely. Annual bonuses, if applicable, which are comprised of company, department, and personal goals, are also precise and timely. Pay increases are generally based upon annual reviews and are reflected annually. For those considering an IT position, you'll be glad to know that the majority of the teams are full of talented professionals. There are exceptions to every team. Depending on department/group, you'll most likely receive new computer hardware and the option to either select a mobile device (iPhone or Android) or use your own and receive a stipend. Pending project timelines, 40+ hours a week is not unheard of, although this stands mostly anywhere. There's great flexibility in work schedules but the policy seems to float between managers. Some of us work from home 2+ days a week. Comp time is also given to those who work outside normal duty hours. Training opportunities for professional certifications are available on an annual basis but out-of-state course requests will be denied.

      Cons

GPC is definitely built on older principles and values. This isn't necessarily a negative blow; check the stock prices and annual profits since the late 50's. That being said, the "slow and steady" mentality is applied to all groups which can prevent creative thinking or disruptive innovation from taking root. I do believe this is slowly changing and will continue to develop as the younger generation replaces 30+ year employees. Depending on your manager/director and their management style, this may or may not be the place for you. While some managers and their employees are very continent, others are living a nightmare. To this degree, upper management within the VP, C, and E levels lack a lending ear.. This mentally wears the good, competent employees to the point of exhaustion, then resignation. Seeing people move about in the company, I've also seen people remove themselves entirely from the company due to poor management. No jeans with the exception of Fridays. <- This makes no sense to me...

      Pros

Company has been around for almost 100 years, which is very admirable!

      Cons

Upper management/ Executive management is very very old school and out of touch. The Executive team for both GPC & APG needs to be revised in order to attract and keep millennials which is truly the future. Also the APG HR team is NOT very friendly or helpful. Please hire more professional and forward thinking employees to be apart of Human Resources, as the current individuals are NOT very “Human” or “Resourceful “!!

      Pros

      NONE- Zero Pros, ALL BAD!

      Cons

Managment never visits thier stores. Store employees with bad attitudes due to no coaching. They term good employees for the smallest things and keep, even promote terrible employees. Especially upper management. YOu just need to do your time a regurgitate what the person above you says. Not allowed to think outside the box.

This is not a tech company, if you're in IT and want to be successful, STAY AWAY

      Pros

Older stable company, only come here if you need something to hold you over until you're able to get a new job somewhere else.

      Cons

Where do I start, this organization from an IT perspective is a mess. GPC makes a ton of acquisitions per year and forever these subsidiaries have been functioning on their own up until recently. The non tech GPC CIO made a mandate to integrate them to become a Global company. Only one problem, these subsidiaries still have their own executives and it teams which makes things difficult to get done. Our information security is a joke. The CISO knows nothing about security and the only reason he has the title is because of his white privilege. This organization has no diversity when it comes to upper management and executives. All of the people of indian decent are either programmers or developers. The majority of the white men are upper management leaders who are not really leaders but more dictators. This company wastes some much money on products they dont need. They will crucify anyone who they feel isn't GPC material. It's so many more than I am able to type so i will leave it at that.

Good Parts Company, not an IT company

      Pros

Good, conservative company. Been around for a very long time. Promotes from within. Cares about employees. Good benefits. Promotes diversity and good worklife balance. People retire from the company after 30 plus years there.

      Cons

This is a parts selling company. It is not an IT company. The IT department struggles with getting the upper management to let the IT department become best in class. Initiatives are started but unfortunately IT industry best practices are not followed through and thus projects fall behind or not completed efficiently. The IT professionals end up going above and beyond to meet deadlines. Everyone is professional and gets the job done, despite upper management.

Once solid company that is resting on its laurels

      Pros

Relaxed & friendly work environment, decent pay & benefits, solid company reputation, and low-stress. Hard work is rewarded. My supervisor and department managers were all excellent people.

      Cons

-The company as a whole is slow to adapt to the changing market. -Many processes are antiquated and are executed a certain way because it's the way the company has always done it- not necessarily because it's the best way. -The field is given way too much say in decisions - and often times acts on an intuition-based whim - when the entire purpose of our department was to make data-driven analytical decisions to benefit the operation. -Upper management cannot stick with a strategic plan to save their lives. They are quick to abandon ship and change their minds at the first sign of trouble. - Company culture is somewhat resistant to progress, which is why NAPA is being outpaced by competitors.

      Pros

People who work there are nice and hard working people.

      Cons

Management lies to employees. Managers refer to employees as people they own. Often overheard managers saying "who owns this one" Male dominated environment, in order for women to advance they have to be flirty, wear short skirts and kiss the man's butt, very antiquated state of mind. Must be liked by the "Upper Management In Crowd", otherwise there is no room for advancement. You may be a great employee work-wise, but if one of them doesn't like your personality then forget about it.

      Pros

The pay is awesome. The experience you gain will definitely help in the long run things change qt the drop of a dime so you have to be prepared.

      Cons

Supervisors seem to have more impact on decision making than upper management. Makes the job harder not knowing who to prioritize.
