I worked at Genworth (More than 5 years)
Genworth Financial provided me my first opportunity under the leadership development program right after college. They continuously invested in me to develop myself and the personnel I managed.
Salary can be not as competitive for the job responsibilities.
I have been working at Genworth full-time (More than 8 years)
People are easy to work with
Good benefits - 401K match 100% up to 6%, $15K tuition reimbursement/yr, 4 weeks of Choice Time Off (after 10 years I get 6 weeks)
Company is shrinking so less opportunities to grow
I have been working at Genworth full-time (More than 5 years)
Flexible work hours, as long as you can get the work done clocking in and out isn't required.
New Opportunities come up all the time so there are new skills to be learned often and to help your carreer path.
Management listens to my ideas and responds well.
Good Overall Benefits Package
The Medical Benefit Choices are very limited. This is a company headquartered in the Eastern United States so there is no Kaiser for us here. Would like to have more choices for Medical Providers like Kaiser.
Advice to Management
Get more Medical Plan choices.

I joined Genworth soon after graduating college and entered their Leadership Development Program in IT. It gave me a great opportunity to try out different roles in IT and find out what I was most passionate about...and I also got the chance to live in different cities (and countries).
This company just seems doomed to fail. They re-orged recently, and while they gave the appearance of trying to find a new CIO for Insurance & Wealth Management, they ended up just sticking with the same guy. There are never enough people to do the work in IT...and developers are always stretched across multiple projects. For every full-time employee in a development/programming role, there are probably 20-30 offshore contractors. Problem is, there's a shortage of IT people in Richmond, and it is nearly impossible for Genworth to hire good talent considering their reputation in the area.
