I have been working at George P. Johnson full-time

    Pros

Excellent peers. Talented people who're passionate about what they do work here. High-profile clients across industries. You'll work on interesting projects. Pockets of encouraging leadership. Great place to find your champions. Flexible schedules. Unlimited time off and one-month parental leave is progressive. Work here if you want to learn about top-notch event marketing soup to nuts.

    Cons

Long hours. If you don't set work/life boundaries, they'll be crossed without mercy. The only way to grow your career here is to threaten to leave and get a promotion. Hard to transition to multi-client projects if you start on leading client accounts. Lack of diversity. It's an executive priority year over year that stays unaddressed. Excruciating politics. Highly unproductive....

    Advice to Management

Pay employees fairly for like work. Years of service is an outdated and biased metric. Address your diversity problem. It's been hanging around for years. People notice. Respect work/life balance. If people are on vacation with family, leave them alone.

I worked at George P. Johnson full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Offers much in the way of variety in what you can do and it has a large client base to work with.

    Cons

Long hours and lots of travel. Management seems to have its favorites and those are the ones that move ahead.

    Advice to Management

Remember that your biggest asset is your employees.

    Pros

They advertise unlimited vacation at the office. You most likely will never be able to take one based on the work load.

    Cons

If you are looking to have a work/life balance or any time for yourself including sleep DO NOT WORK HERE. Long hours & unmanageable expectations. Unorganized chaos and poor communication in office. Egos run high.

    Advice to Management

    Take responsibility

I have been working at George P. Johnson

    Pros

Most people get to work on large impactful projects and see the projects come to life from start to finish. Fast pace environment (for me a pro because I personally enjoy it) Challenges you to work with little direction for a big output. Big learning curves. Recently changed to FTO, unlimited vacation - with your own best judgement.

    Cons

Generally low pay, working long hours closer to show time (10+hrs) working on site for (13+ hrs) down time hours are influx (6+hrs) Partially the reason for long hours is due to being extremely under staffed. Company asks current employees to compensate for needed hours.

    Advice to Management

Understaffed and stretched for making deliverables. Not enough focus on nurturing the new comers.

I worked at George P. Johnson for more than 2 years

    Pros

    * A great company if you want to make money (if you are hourly that is). * They try to build employee morale with happy hour and free snacks * A good place to learn, grow and move on. * The summer is normally when it slows down, so that's a good thing.

    Cons

    * Long hours! I don't mind working long hours, but when you work from 7:00am-9:30pm 5 days a week and a HIGHLY chance of weekend work, it's ridiculous. * They treat their employees like work mules. * It's a revolving door with new employees in Austin, Auburn Hills, Boston and Nashville. * Expect to have your phone blow up with emails/phone...

    Advice to Management

Hire more experienced employees and treat your employees with the respect they deserve. We put long hours into making sure the show still goes on.
