I worked at George P. Johnson

        Pros

They advertise unlimited vacation at the office. You most likely will never be able to take one based on the work load.

        Cons

If you are looking to have a work/life balance or any time for yourself including sleep DO NOT WORK HERE. Long hours & unmanageable expectations. Unorganized chaos and poor communication in office. Egos run high.

        Advice to Management

        Take responsibility

        Positive Outlook

I have been working at George P. Johnson full-time for more than 4 years

        Pros

Up and coming agency pushing to be the best in the business, works with large brands and large scale events, improved facility with coffee, snacks, and a strong time off policy, good insurance coverage

        Cons

company culture is better at other offices than the Torrance branch, office is silos of teams with low interaction, work life balance is difficult as employees are expected to be on call at all times including evenings, weekends and holidays

        Advice to Management

Be more transparent in planning, follow through on commitments such as the promise of upgraded offices, dog policy that was rescinded, etc

I have been working at George P. Johnson

        Pros

The company has good reputation. You'll have opportunities to work on Fortune 500 accounts. The benefits package is great: FTO, paid family leave, ESOP, HSA. Most employees care about their work and put in the effort to succeed. The agency is part of a wide network of resources and offices.

        Cons

Offices are too political, bureaucratic and territorial. Boston office lacks diversity. Promotion criteria overplay time on the job. No work life balance: Managers and executives don't respect employees' personal time. Hiring process is broken: New hires are not onboarded effectively and not trained well.

        Advice to Management

Politics: Let's focus on the work and get on with it. Diversity: Creative agencies are notorious for being an old, white boys' club. Lead the change. Promotions: Reward results and new ideas. Let's make the door revolve less quickly. We've all seen great employees have a carrot dangled in front of them for years. They work hard, get nothing for it and take their talent somewhere else. Balance: Upper management needs...

I have been working at George P. Johnson full-time for more than 20 years

        Pros

Good work/life balance depending on time of the year. Tries to improve the work day with little give-a-ways (fruit, snacks, etc)

        Cons

Too much micro managing and management trying to do my job. Major lack of communication resulting in double work and assumptions. Under-staffed and under-appreciated.
