I have been working at Georgetown University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Substantive work, great colleagues, great institution. People care here and the bureaucracy runs much better than other places I've worked. Also, there's comparative flexibility.

    Cons

The pay's not great, especially for the education required and overall demands of the job.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Georgetown University as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Georgetown University has excellent rates - +$200 per hour for the certificate program in which I instruct. The training facilities are state of the art. Class schedules are flexible. The location is near a Metro station.

    Cons

On occasion, the scheduler needs to be prompted to establish in the Blackboard learning management system the courses I am scheduled to teach. The electronic infrastructure (computer, projector, internet interface) was problematic shortly after the move to the Massachusetts Avenue building, but not so much at the present time.

    Advice to Management

I believe that Georgetown University could be significantly more active in marketing its certificate programs with profits, non-profits and government agencies.
