I have been working at Georgia Department of Corrections full-time

      Pros

Regular pay Guaranteed job if you have no criminal record Discounts in public

      Cons

No overtime! Very clique based. If you are in with management, you'll do well. If not, don't plan on being more than a CO1

      Recommends
      Positive Outlook

I have been working at Georgia Department of Corrections full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Room for growth if you're willing to apply yourself Great opportunities for professional development Education reimbursement Forgiveness of student loans for Correctional Officers Fast-paced work environment (great for those who like to stay busy)

      Cons

Regular changes in facility leadership (sometimes you get good leaders. sometimes you don't) Lazy coworkers (but on what job is that not true) Cliques (poor leaders always have one)

      Advice to Management

Greater involvement of Employee Affairs, ensuring that the Disciplinary Process is adhered to by facility administrators (rather than them taking action at their "discretion"), and more activities for officers would be wonderful.
