    Can’t trust everyone Too many work place relationships

    Advice to Management

    If someone is performing above and beyond promote them don’t hold them back. The pay has gotten a little better but it could be much better. The work place relationships need to stop and come up with a program to build healthier officers.

    Pros

    Starting pay 28,000, ability to advance very quickly, lots of avenues to move into, lots of vacation time, sick time, holidays

    Cons

    Extremely understaffed, frequently work overtime on salary, asked to do things against policy, but when kaka hits the fan you will be fired, terrible disconnection between upper management and staff.

    Advice to Management

    Stop playing favorites, treat everyone equally, be more organized, stop pretending you dont have serious problems going on in prison. Stop covering up issues.

      No overtime! Very clique based. If you are in with management, you'll do well. If not, don't plan on being more than a CO1

      Good benefits, paid uniforms, paid sick leave and annual leave, job security

      Cons

      12 hour shifts (usually end up being 13-14 hours), no OT pay because salaried (receive comp time on 2nd check of the month), short staffed

      Money was decent. The benefits were good

      Cons

      Dirty upper management. Care bout the inmate population more than the officers. Not concern about the disrespect officers take off inmates. Dangerous

      Listen to your officers. More people would stay if there was people willing to enforce policy.

        It's a salaried position, and it's difficult to get fired as long as you don't have associations with the inmates

        Cons

        Very cliquish management that has a CYA attitude
