Inmates will yell scream as well as curse you

    Advice to Management

Be king to the empoyees you have yes people want jobs bit that is why the turn over rate is so high. All the things people think about in corrections maybe start giving raises we protect the pulic and make the least money.

I have been working at Georgia Department of Corrections full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Have great benefits. Have to have a love for helping others. Get to help others to enters back into society with for positive attitude. It was great some years ago. It was the job to have and the prison was safer.

    Cons

Have to work very short hand its hard because it hard when you doing the officers, sergeants. And your job. You by yourself doing it all and no one wants to hear you forgot. Well you the Let and that's what you sign up for. The pay isn't that great for what you have to put up safer. It is not safe.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people and don't think you are better then them. Pay tham what they are worth. Take care of the veterans (the ones that's been with you for 15 pus years. Employees who been working 20 years is making bout the same as the ones who been working 5 years if they have the same rank.

I worked at Georgia Department of Corrections full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I'm greatful for the experience. It's a job and learning experience. Uniforms provided. Chance of getting a new position 8

    Cons

Not as organized as it should be.
Unsafe environment. Needs better management of discipline. Inmates should not be able to move so freely. Management should be more respectful to all staff members no matter there ranking.

    Advice to Management

One Team is the idea, Not the case. If you treat your CO's like inmates or like they don't matter. Why would they stay and do right. The turn over rate for CO's is going to continue if the upper level of staff continues to be closed minded. I understand and agree with having discipline but that also requires Respect.
