I worked at Georgia Department of Corrections for more than a year

    Pros

Paid time off and decent insurance.

    Cons

Revolving door system for offenders. No interest in rehabilitating them on DOC's part. Poor pay, even with years of prior experience. Extremely high turnover due to poor management and job demands.

    Advice to Management

Treat all offenders and employees with dignity and RESPECT.

I have been working at Georgia Department of Corrections full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Steady pay, regular days off. You know your schedule ahead of time so you can at least make plans for your days off.

    Cons

Not enough pay. We haven't had a raise of any kind in more than 6 years. Mandatory non-paid overtime. No or poor equipment. Ignorant management who play favorites. Not enough training, its pretty much sink or swim. High turn over rate due to poor pay and poor training.

    Advice to Management

Be fair and consistent. Employees should be paid for thier work.
