I worked at Georgia Gwinnett College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent IT management
Looks for new software/hardware to better suit needs of teachers
Pretty fair in terms of job responsibilities

    Cons

    Favoritism
    Lots of office politics
Co-workers hired are not exactly filtered out, mostly lazy (not talking about the full-time staff)

    Advice to Management

Increase training for part time in order to have them actually be useful when going to solve a problem instead of having 3 of the 30 fix the major problems. Having a team that can solve basic to intermediate issues would help greatly.

I have been working at Georgia Gwinnett College (Less than a year)

    Pros

As a peer tutor while you're studying, it helps you retain as well as learn new skills as you get to help students taking the same classes you've already taken, but with different professors.

You make many friends in long run as you work with variety of people.

It's a good opportunity to develop your interpersonal as well as communication skills.

It helps you understand looking at the things from different eyes.

Work-environment is really fun as everyone behaves friendly with you, regardless of your experience and expertise.

    Cons

It is demanding job as it requires you to be spontaneous. Sometimes you're dealing with problems you have never seen or dealt before.

    Advice to Management

Some more technical advancement should be implemented in terms of online help for students under optimum supervision to maintain integrity.

I worked at Georgia Gwinnett College full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The ability to help the students be successful. They also have several restaurants on campus for your dining pleasure. The campus is nice and well taken care of, but parking can be a challenge!!

    Cons

This organization can be very challenging and does not do a good job of making new hires feel welcome. This is a CYA culture where new comers are dropped into the deep end of the pool and told to sink or swim. Most sink because they don't get the help they need to be successful. If you don't fit into their world, you will find work there and uphill battle! During my tenure I saw many great people leave or forced out because of the unhealthy competition and lack of true teamwork that exists.

    Advice to Management

Do more to create a stronger overall culture and stop ignoring the obvious signs that the culture is toxic!

I have been working at Georgia Gwinnett College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team environment excellent training and is a great department to gain a massive amount of technical knowledge.

    Cons

Every day is a new experience when dealing with the technical field. Therefore the cons are slim to non because you are still learning.

    Advice to Management

Management does an excellent job preparing the student workers, and allowing them to ask questions and providing feedback.
