I have been working at Georgia Gwinnett College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As a student it can be tough to get a job. GGC has many different jobs available for students and takes great care in utilizing as much of its student population as possible.

    Cons

I have not experienced any real cons except that there are no full-time positions for students. So without full-time status there are no health benefits.

    Advice to Management

    Full-time capability would be excellent.

I worked at Georgia Gwinnett College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learned how to operate in an office environment. Tasks ranging from proofreading and document editing as well as construct business analysis for new classes.

    Cons

It's work study, not a long term career. The level of performance was based on what I could handle, and deviated from other work study students. I was okay with this.

I have been working at Georgia Gwinnett College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful place to work. The administration is very dedicated to the mission of the college and faculty are very collegial. I highly recommend

    Cons

It's new public college so there are bumps along the way. Examples: offices being moved every year or so to make room for the growing poplulation, new buildings being built; some processs are still not as efficient as they could be just yet. However, the enrollment of the college is reaching it's maximum so many of these "start up" issues should level off.

I have been working at Georgia Gwinnett College (Less than a year)

    Pros

As a peer tutor while you're studying, it helps you retain as well as learn new skills as you get to help students taking the same classes you've already taken, but with different professors.

You make many friends in long run as you work with variety of people.

It's a good opportunity to develop your interpersonal as well as communication skills.

It helps you understand looking at the things from different eyes.

Work-environment is really fun as everyone behaves friendly with you, regardless of your experience and expertise.

    Cons

It is demanding job as it requires you to be spontaneous. Sometimes you're dealing with problems you have never seen or dealt before.

    Advice to Management

Some more technical advancement should be implemented in terms of online help for students under optimum supervision to maintain integrity.

I worked at Georgia Gwinnett College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have a lot of good memories of GGC. I think most people enjoy it because it's been a few years and a lot of my old coworkers are still there. I left because I wanted a more challenging position somewhere else.

    Cons

The salary was average for similar jobs at other USG schools. Work hours are 8-5 instead of 9-5; it's probably set like that for the students convenience because a lot of working professionals attend.

    Advice to Management

Continue hiring great leaders and appreciating them, so they will stay. I haven't seen better management in my career. I would work here again if you paid more for it.
