I have been working at Georgia-Pacific full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I came back to GP after 3 years as a work from home mom. GP culture is one of encouragement, flexibility, honor, and integrity. Honestly - the BEST company I have worked with in 25 years of professional history.

    Cons

The parking deck! But, if you get in early enough... that is a non-issue. Anywhere downtown is a beast for parking.

I have been working at Georgia-Pacific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great salary compared to other industries in the area. Vacation, and time off are great. The vision and leadership principles are full of value.

    Cons

The locations of facilities are .... horrible. It seems like advancement to other positions may be limited to “stinginess”

    Advice to Management

Don’t forget who does all the work, builds tighter team. Don’t be afraid to be in charge.

    I worked at Georgia-Pacific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, had a lot of free dinners

    Cons

Management is all about favoritism and getting their friends the better jobs, passing up people who are better workers and had more time in. Hot as hell in there and the machine was constantly messing up. And when your running around trying to pick up board they will just speed the machine up, all while people just stand and watch the dry end workers pick up the spills. “We are Albion!” Was the slogan but it sure didn’t feel like it when things hit the fan, couldn’t buy help.

    Advice to Management

    Quit.

    I worked at Georgia-Pacific full-time

    Pros

Great financial and sourcing system. Great experience for entry level employees.

    Cons

No Bonus and No Salary raise for years, they will write in the contract to attract people to join the organization but never address performance for the yearly bonus. Glass ceiling for promotion. Travel requirements 80% or more and working hours close to 70 to 80 hours per week. 'Containerboard and Cellulose' Leadership do not have any talent management plan.

    Advice to Management

Follow MBM guidelines to retain talent. You are just preaching MBM but do not follow it at all.

    I worked at Georgia-Pacific full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Great People everywhere
    - Pay / Benefits are great for me personally
    - Giant company that is still growing
    - yearly bonuses and 360 reviews on your performance and the performance of others
-Ability to move around the company to different departments

    Cons

-talent acquisition is slow moving and overall has awful management. It’s a bunch of comfortable people just collecting a paycheck with no fear of losing their role for not performing.
-management at the mills/ manufacturing facilities are the absolute WORST. They are rude and treat them like peasants - they won’t change until fired, they came up being treated like crap so feel it’s right for them to do the same to young emoloyees coming through the company.

    Advice to Management

This message won’t be heard and won’t change anything. I was there for 3 years and never saw significant improvement. Stop promoting people based on length of service.

I have been working at Georgia-Pacific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love the culture and work ethics they don't treat you like a slave and understand if you need more help. Teamwork is truly a value here

    Cons

Very bureaucratic have to fill out so many forms and reviews just to do the simplest tasks out here. Most annoying for an environmental review for simple reports and the like because of how they have their review process set up.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! The beauraceacy is the fault of upper management. They need to just be either less involved by cutting the red tape or more involved and get rid of all these forms and websites. Know what's going on at the sites.
