    Don't give the latest technology to department heads that only use if for email and calendar.

    I have been working at Georgia-Pacific full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Pay is ok but a few months ago they dropped starting pay to $11 where I started last spring at $16.50

    Cons

    Just about everything....the 2nd shift lead is more worried about people being on there phones then the destructive nature other employees have on moral. Oh yeah random drug tests starting in march so if your a smoker you need not apply.

    Listen to your operators

    -GP has a good corporate cultural
    -There are many opportunities for advancement at the corporate level
    -Corporate Office provides ample opportunity for learning and offers exposure to different areas of the business

    Cons

    -Corporate is often very disconnected from the facilities
    -Poor communication within manufacturing facilities among management
    -Limited advancement within the manufacturing facilities

    Advice to Management

    GP is a great company at the corporate level but there should be steps taken to ensure that the values at corporate translate to the facilities. It would greatly benefit GP to become consistent on all levels of operations.
