Thank you for your work over the past 3+ years and taking the time to share your feedback. I am happy to read that you have found the balance of work/life and environment to be overall positive during your career at Georgia-Pacific. Career advancement and opportunities to further stretch in roles, responsibilities and knowledge is a key part of our culture and belief as an employer. I am disappointed to read that you have not experienced this and would encourage you to speak to your manager on opportunities to further grow. Thank you again- Molly from Talent Solutions

Let you get all the overtime you want

    Pros

Great schedule, 2 on 2off, 3 on 3 off. You can pick up as much overtime as you want. For a production job the work life balance is as good as you can get. Different insurance options, let's you save some money.

    Cons

    Rotate days and nights monthly

    Pros

There are a lot of great people who work for the company. Many of them have worked for the company for decades, and have a lot of great knowledge and experience. They truly want to do the right thing and work towards making the company better, but senior management routinely gets in the way. Ability to maintain a good work life balance was good.

    Cons

I have never heard so many complaints about compensation as I have while working for Georgia Pacific. Many hard working people who are truly adding value to the organization go years without a raise. For those who are able to garner a raise, it takes months and months with many challenges to get approvals. Bonuses are very hard to come by. (I have not seen one in years.) Medical benefits are meager. The implementation of the MBM tenets is sadly derailed. The talk and the actions are regularly completely opposite of each other. I would not be surprised if they see an exodus of employees as the economy improves. Also be prepared to be routinely bombarded with the Koch libertarian political perspective.

    Pros

Having worked in different businesses & facilities with GP and I have really enjoyed the consistency in the values & beliefs of the people I've worked. GP being a part of a larger organization, Koch Industries, allows for lots of growth & different career opportunities for those that are demonstrating good performance in the company.

    Cons

Some roles do not offer as much flexibility in work/life balance due to the requirements of the position. Sometimes can be bureaucratic with policies/approvals.

    Pros

GP takes care of their employees very well - have good work life balance and am compensated very well. MBM culture is great. Encouraged to take on new roles.

    Cons

Koch is very conservative and I don't align politocally.

Very slow start, but solid experience

    Pros

The Brunswick Cellulose site is a great workplace with extremely friendly people at all levels. The work is challenging and meaningful for the most part. Virtually unlimited possibilities for career development as all of Koch Industries Inc. is available to employees for internal transfer. Pay is well above average and after being there for a few years there is potential for an annual bonus as well.

    Cons

Work life balance is not good for those who are in the process controls group or operations groups. Leadership is placed on a 5-week rotation for weekend call duty and the mill is very dependent upon salaried support. This means that very few weekend call shifts go by without having to spend a portion of the weekend at work. As with most employers, time-off and flexible hours is completely dependent on the boss--official policy is no flex hours even if you have to work a night or weekend. Leadership manages safety by requiring everyone to enter a 'leading indicator' each month, even if it is 'Thanked my coworker for working safely today'.
