I have been working at Georgia Tech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good academia environment. Beautiful campus. Good facilities. People are nice. Georgia Tech is ranked among the world's best universities. Based in Atlanta, the large, public university. Many clubs you can join.

    Cons

Too much male and few girls. Payment is OK to low. Food is OK but not so good. And most of the time, campus has too much event with additional parking fee.

    Advice to Management

There is no advice to management except they can balance ratio between female and male. That is it.

I have been working at Georgia Tech full-time

    Pros

    Outstanding professors, colleagues, students
Ihe frontier of research and technology.
Good prospects after graduation; highly competitive.

    Cons

Schoo and Work trumps all - considered more important than family, health or personal welfare.
     Very heavy coursework/load.
    Low pay. Higher pay outside.
    Understaffed. Life-work balance non-existent.
Expect to work or study 60-70hours/week just like everyone else.
Very high rates of suicides among students.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the number of management and increase the number of people who are actually doing the work. It's a big boat that needs more rowers.

I worked at Georgia Tech (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great staff and attitude in the work place. There is time to complete tasks like homework or other tasks. They are trying to create more tasks and projects for this job to make it more involved.

    Cons

Job is not very involved so there is a lot of downtime currently. It is a customer service type of job so there will be a negative phone call every now and then.

    Advice to Management

Come up with more tasks to do with the current job. Without something to do the employees will miss use their time on the internet while there has to be some project which needs some assistance to create more efficiency in the work place.

I worked at Georgia Tech full-time

    Pros

Great projects, a lot of collaborations, smart people.

    Cons

No regard to one's personal/private life, work comes first, there is always this idea of competition and we should do this first, we should be the pioneer. Science should no this way.

I worked at Georgia Tech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great environment to work in. Excellent choices on affordable benefits for whole family and good vacation/PTO accumulation. Amazing retirement plan matching. All typical of staff on the University System of Georgia.

    Cons

As research staff, and as with all Universities, it really depends on who you work for. Group professors are notoriously impatient with progress so you will have to always excel beyond your abilities to progress. Pay is never great for early stage researchers and working hours far exceed industrial standards.

    Advice to Management

Make Postdoctoral research more structured as is for postgraduates with career development training encouraged more directly by professors, who often prohibit research staff from taking time away from their research for such courses.

I have been working at Georgia Tech full-time

    Pros

Autonomy to work with faculty and subject matter experts in developing new programs.

    Cons

Leadership lacks coherent decision making process and does not keep its employees informed.

    Advice to Management

Increase transparency in strategic planning and include other employee's feedback in process improvement.
