I worked at Geron full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This company is full of wonderful people who all seem to work very well with one another, and it shows in the success they've had.

    Cons

They have had to reduce the number of employees since the recession, and I get the impression that it's a difficult thing for everyone involved, especially because everyone seems to appreciate each other. This is a con, but it has been a necessary con in response to challenging times or changes to the company's strategy.

    Advice to Management

Keep perpetuating a friendly team environment

I worked at Geron (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Geron was built on great science. It also has a highly experienced team of drug developers. Overall the culture is very science based, data driven, open and collaborative.

    Cons

The company has been through a number of set backs a few years back which resulted in multiple layoffs. There was a lot of uncertainty and the moral was low.

    Advice to Management

Management should continue to support and appreciate those who pull the weight for the company. Hopefully Geron can survive the development hurdles.

I worked at Geron full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great science. Was a tight-knit team until fairly recently.

    Cons

A group of individuals who all worked together before has been hired in, and has a very rigid view of the world and how it should operate. They are not open to alternate opinions and do not seek out or listen to (when offered unsolicited) the input of those who are not members of the "inner circle"

    Advice to Management

Work hard to develop a culture that values input of all employees, and is willing to have more flexibility of thoughts.
