I have been working at Gestalt Community Schools full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everyone really cares about the students and about the work we're doing. Coworkers are awesome and support each other. Lots of internal promotions and leadership development for those who are interested.

    Cons

The organization is growing, so it's experiencing some "growing pains," like determining the best way to communicate internally and codifying policies and procedures. The core value of innovation means we shift course often, which can be hard to keep up with.

    Advice to Management

Putting policies and procedures in writing would help ensure everyone knows what's expected.

I have been working at Gestalt Community Schools full-time

    Pros

    - Gestalt & its schools do ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE work for the kids in the Memphis community. If you want to be part of something life-changing for the youth in this area, definitely work for Gestalt.
    - Opportunities to make positive change in Memphis from all levels of this organization
    - Competitive pay + benefits for full-time positions
    - lots of time off at any level of position
    - many opportunities for teacher & leader advancement

    Cons

Just like any other position, you may be asked to help with events outside of regular hours or help with projects outside of your position. If you're schedule is flexible with reasonable notice, this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

    Advice to Management

Management works really hard to hear voices from any level of organization. The CMO is always open to innovative solutions to problems and love to promote from within. Though decisions are sometimes made that some do not agree with, I can say that management is always open to being approached with options and suggestions.

    Pros

Gestalt Community Schools is a great place to work. Gestalt believes in supplying all of the tools one needs for professional development and there is always an opportunity for career growth. The best part about Gestalt is that they believe in family and work-life balance is important to them.

    Cons

Because Gestalt is a young organization, they are trying to figure out what cultural norms are.

    Pros

Staff truly cares about the scholars, staff and community. You get a tremendous amount of professional development, have growth opportunities and get to work with great people. Gestalt is really working towards creating a great environment and experience for all staff.

    Cons

Like most organizations that go through change and growth, Gestalt is continuing to figure out how to communicate effectively.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work on the culture and experience. Things have dramatically improved over the past couple of years but there is still work to be done.

I worked at Gestalt Community Schools full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers for the most part.

    Cons

Management is not equipped to create a culture of respect, loyalty and create a environment of trust.

    Advice to Management

Stop placing self interest in place of what's good for the company, additionally more accountability measures need to be put in place for Yetta Lewis who has a history of making very bad decision for the welfare of the students and charter office.
