I have been working at Ghirardelli Chocolate full-time

    Pros

The company is filled with passionate, talented people who take pride in their work. Everyone I have encountered with has great work experience and is well-qualified for their job. I have the best work/life balance I've ever had in my career.

    Cons

While the company is headquartered in the Bay Area, the culture and benefits are not at all in line with a state of the art tech company that you typically find in the Bay Area. Personally, I don't find this to be discouraging, but I think it can catch new employees of guard at first.

    Advice to Management

At times the day-to-day operations can feel a bit too formal. We are essentially selling happiness to consumers worldwide. Let's not take ourselves too serious and celebrate the fun that comes with manufacturing and selling great tasting chocolate!

I have been working at Ghirardelli Chocolate full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Chocolate of course! Also, my career started very exciting as I was learning new concepts about chocolate business. There's nothing much to it now after a few years.

    Cons

HR never fires anyone. The company is filled with under qualified employees who are too comfortable to meet companies high expectations. Managers are suffering to meet goals with underperforming team members. HR does nothing too scared to fire anyone. As a result, good employees get burned out and leave. Underperforming employees stay forever. It seems the company is obligated to feed their families. Charity.

    Advice to Management

HR get to work! Clean up the company. Let the good ones perform to their best. Support your managers.

Great and exciting sense of community. Room for growth. Great big team environment with many individual ready to coach and help when needed.

    Cons

Workload can sometimes be heavy due to understaffing. Upper management many times sets unrealistic expectations. Bonus program is built on an "attainable" bases but have yet to receive it.

I have been working at Ghirardelli Chocolate full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people we work with are phenomenal. The company is really flexible on the hours you work as long as you get your work completed.. The parent company Lindt backs us when we want to do something - good support there. We have summer hours, and casual dress during summer months - it is a pleasurable place to work!

    Cons

Sometimes the work is not balanced within departments. We could definitely use more office space, and conference rooms! :)

    Advice to Management

    Take care of your team!
