    Cons

Pay is not that great but it is a low skill jobs so it's understandable so little room for job growth and no full-time options available at this time

I have been working at Giant Eagle part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the work is mindless and repetitive, usually get the days off you request

    Cons

Redundant policies to "insure" tasks are completed. No room for advancement. Only cross training in different departments, which causes friction between department leads. Full time employees and team leader reluctant to train beyond basic tasks, despite several years of loyal service. Time between shifts is less than what is stated in contract.

    Advice to Management

Team member morale and customer service suffer when the store leader and "team leaders" are unapproachable; don't work as a team with their "team members" AR system glitches often numbers always off despite inventory.

I have been working at Giant Eagle part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very flexible with student schedules. Good pay and regular raises. Union positions inside stores.

    Cons

Corporate always tries to push new policies every few weeks without regard to how stores are actually run. Hours cut more and more each week to skeleton staff levels.

    Advice to Management

Study the stores and how they run before you put ass-backward policies in place.

I worked at Giant Eagle part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very accomodating scheduling for students, even non students. If you worked hard, management noticed. Received free lunch vouchers for hard work, etc.

    Cons

Low pay, "customer is always right " culture even when they were wrong, customers could scream and threaten you and you couldn't fight back.

    Advice to Management

Don't try to accommodate everyone. If you make a rule, stick to it.

Former Employee - Cashier in Lewis Center, OH

I worked at Giant Eagle part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was able to work in multiple departments of the store based on the needs of the store. I started as a cashier, and would occasionally help in the bakery or liquor department.

    Cons

Scheduling is a week by week basis, sometimes it is difficult to make plans because you are unsure of your schedule.

I have been working at Giant Eagle part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I am a college student and Giant Eagle has catered to my needs as a student. They give me time off when I need it and over the summers I have left for internships. They kept me on their roster for when I come back during the school year. Weekly pay is a bonus. They also offer decent benefits if you plan to keep it as your primary job.

    Cons

Only offer mostly part time positions. Company on the corporate level does not care about its store level employees. It's a very strict schedule when it comes to break. You only get two 15 minute break if you work below an 8 hour shift. They will schedule you 7.5 hours just to keep you from getting a lunch. It is very hard to move up if you plan on making a career out of it. Recognition for quality work is almost non existent.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your store level employees. They know what the customers want so you should listen and take advice from them. Also change the prices according to the demographic of the area you are serving. The consistent prices across all locations will be your downfall.
