Workload manageable, pay and hours you can’t survive on
Mar 20, 2021 - Assembly Line Worker in Cleveland, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
As stated in the headline. Much more manageable workload than a previous store in another state. Much less prone to the repetitive motion injuries or strains that come with this type of job.
Cons
The low pay that comes with working in the retail sector despite its being “essential”. Also, the likelihood of getting to 40 hours in a week is slim unless you agree to take on some management responsibilities without a concomitant increase in pay. I think you can work up to 38 (maybe 36, don’t remember) hours a week without being considered FT for purposes of benefits. But it’s Union, so they’ve negotiated a better-than-industry-standard benefits package. Finally, the joy of working with the public.

Pros

Cons
work for 3year got only a $0.25 raise and was never promoted to full time even when I was working 40 hours a week for several years and the there union is a waste of money because all they defend is the company not the workers. o and I never was paid for a payed vacation because there hr department sucks at there jobs

Feels like they are missing the mark at times

Decent Benefits Pay is acceptable but isn't up to what it should be given the economy Union side of the company protects their staff
Cons
Starting pay is not good which leads to very understaffed stores. They recently downsized their HR roles and basically dumped that stuff on heads with no pay increase Poor training leading to high turnover

If your a hard worker and dedicated - This company doesn't deserve you
Mar 14, 2018 - Store Leader in Pittsburgh, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very easy to apply and get hired
Cons
Hard working and dedicated employees are not rewarded when working for Giant Eagle. This company doesn't believe in rewarding employees with anything other then a weekly pay check. And the pay is well below all other companies in the same industry. All workers are given the same pay raise if you are a hard worker or a lazy worker. Employees who choose to apply for a salaried management position are treated the same way. You will be overworked and under pay. Expect to work 6 and 7 days a week and receive nothing extra in return. Not even a 'Thank You'. When it comes to getting a raise while in a salaried position the company will give you every reason they can think of not to give you a raise. For the last 20 plus years Giant Eagle has based it's company on low wages for employees and it is starting to catch up to them

Pros
Working with fellow techs who were great and friendly and you really vibed with. Also getting to help the elderly and people who couldn't afford their medications. Seeing my regular customers made my day.
Cons
Pay was so crappy. They expect techs to come in and do all the work and get paid literally less than 1/4 of what a pharmacist makes an hour. I think if they increased the pay they wouldn't have such a high turnover rate.

Pros
They work well with students who go to school, pay has increased since Covid, I believe they are around $10 at this point.
Cons
Other then the base pay before Covid and the worker 'shortage' pay was not good for. Asked for overtime constantly, and bribed people to work it by giving free lunches.
