Gibson Brands in Bozeman Montana
Dec 9, 2021 - Production Team Member in Bozeman, MTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There are lots of very nice people working at Gibson. There are two shifts early morning until 2:30pm or 2pm until 10:30. You learn one job, get good at it and you may get promoted to another department. They are open to requesting a different department if you want a change. If you need time off you can request it. There is a calendar to check before you ask, so you know if the time off is available in your department.
Cons
You just need to know it is factory work. Whatever job they put you in, you do that for 8 hours. It can be monotonous. Time off is hard to get because there are so many employees wanting the same holidays and sometimes the same weekends. Just be prepared to work in a factory...if thats not your thing, look elsewhere. Pay is not great...back in 2017. It is minimum wage starting at $13 an hour. I just couldn't live on $430 net a week.

Pros
Requesting time off was never an issue.
Cons
High stress, low pay, and nothing makes any logical or common sense. Management is so far removed from the real world, they don't even have a clue, but to them it is all in the sense of 'forward thinking.' Continual negative almost hateful feedback and never any raises or reviews with also very unrealistic goals and expectations. Extremely bad policies towards customers and dealer base that are detrimental towards business growth and are borderline illegal. Company puts out sub-par product, but really exploiting the Gibson same to it's fullest degree. Trust me, the 'mystique' of working at Gibson wears off really quickly when you realize that you are in Office Space, but even worse.

Pros
Fast paced, quick moving. We work with a lot of good people at the lower levels of the company, and there is a lot of prestige working for Gibson. Close relationships with vendors allows us to really get some things done quickly.
Cons
The company is built open the ego of the CEO, who is convinced that he's smarter than every other person in the company. That stifles creativity and growth. You also have to hope that your boss doesn't end up on his bad list, because if they do, you can forget about your department being taken care of anytime soon. Would rather make a bad decision because it's his than listen to others. He's convinced the he can do anyone's job at Gibson, and do it better than the person doing it.
