    Pros

    Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero.

    Cons

Employees are mistreated and underpaid. Management is conniving, devious, and unprofessional. HR department is incompetent.

    Advice to Management

I can't help those who won't help themselves. Once you realize you're not the most intelligent person in the room then the healing can begin.

I have been working at Gildan Activewear full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I would strongly recommend not working here until major changes are made. Company has a lot of potential, but needs to recognize its weaknesses and create a better environment for its employees

    Cons

Politics, unprofessional / unethical upper management (not all, but some key players), lacks structure, zero training, culture is awful! Constantly putting out fires

    Advice to Management

    Clean house. Everyone is miserable

    Pros

You can learn a lot, but even that is restricted.

    Cons

Poor benefits, not flexible, they care more about bottom line and budgets then the actual employees.

    Advice to Management

Stay more informed and show less favoritism

I worked at Gildan Activewear full-time

    Pros

    Average pay for work done

    Cons

Terrible management in the customer service department. I was a young guy in a department of 95% middle aged, miserable women. Very mean, gossipy people work there. Terrible work environment. Management will play favorites if they don't like you and do whatever they can to get you fired. I was told 3 weeks before getting let go that I was not going to lose my job. I think my manager lied about my lunch breaks to try and get me fired. Terrible people. Please don't ever work there unless you want to hate your life.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up and stop sucking.

I worked at Gildan Activewear full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I liked and admired my supervisor very much, as did all of the people who worked for him, and then they threw him under the bus.

    Cons

I was hired as part of a special team to work on an order for Dollar General. After working several months some machines arrived from one of Gildan’s Caribbean plants. We were ordered to cut the labels out of Fruit of the Loom shirts and heat transfer the Gildan label onto it. I complained to my supervisor, who was hired just for this project and he assured me that it was legal. When other people questioned this also, our supervisor had a meeting with his boss and the head of the Charleston office who both said the legal department in Canada had oked the work. Not only did we put their labels in Fruit of the Loom shirts but we were then ordered to send them back to Dollar General with other shirts from another company, the colors did not match, the display boxes looked cheap with three of four shades of the same color in the same boxes. We complained to our supervisor who then complained about the presentation but was again told to just do the work. About a month after we shipped the goods some lawyers came down from Canada. Dollar General and Fruit of the Loom threatened to sue and they made our supervisor the scapegoat. The day after the lawyers left he was called down stairs and escorted out of the building. Even though he had nothing to do with the order except follow orders, he was fired. Slowly they got rid of all of us that worked on this project. The company wanted everyone who worked on this project out of the building. We did what we were told and then they fired us when Fruit of the Loom threatened to sue.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie and blame others for your mistakes.

I have been working at Gildan Activewear full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

We got a raise after three years....smh. but they took our monthly PTO. So it really balances out like we got nothing.

    Cons

While they give raises they cut hrs. It balances out like we never got a raise . We are not seeing our pay when you never get 80hrs. There is nothing in paper with employees signature. Alot of lies and gaps in imformation. The workers suffer while management gets paid for everyday and even the days they force us to take off without pay. The rate of pay and the yearly cost of living isn't being applied. Who ever is controlling the finances knows how to hurt workers and let everything benefit management. Remember without workers nothing moves.

    Advice to Management

Stop slandering workers to other workers. What kind of priffessional do you guys have working for you. Things can get out of hand when someone with authority abuses his power through verbal abuse and indirect attacks. SMH.

I worked at Gildan Activewear full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Offers competitive compensation and benefits
-Stunning offices in the heart of downtown Montreal
    -Good financial standing

    Cons

    -Poor management
    -High turnover
    -No communication
    -No work-life balance
-No one is happy; very demotivating, depressing environment
    -No regular feedback

    Advice to Management

Take employee concerns into account; there is a reason there is so much turnover, especially in the HR department.
Very little promotion from within, even when it's well deserved.
Initiatives are started but never followed through.
Yes, you compensate your people well, but at what cost? You continue to lose strong employees and soon, given your reputation within the Montreal job maker, it will be tough to keep replacing them

    Pros

-location, offices, and the females wear very revealing outfits to the office, if that interests you.

    Cons

-Sexist, Racist. Only Italian Males from Montreal can get promoted from within - but when they need actual skills to fill a role, they need to recruit from outside (and can no longer hire from within Montreal due to their poor reputation). They only

A quick search on linkedin should give you an indication of their turnover.

    Advice to Management

CEO is great, however has Senior Management in place who give him blatantly and intentionally misinform him to suit their own agendas.

Only a few things can hide for long - the sun, the moon, and the truth. They will crash in a few years, when the misinformation eventually results in actual failures. Also stop using "lack of fit" to give senior management carte blanche to bully employees and give others preferential treatment.
Disgusting environment, can't wait to get out.
