I have been working at Gilsbar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule allows for time to be made up instead of using PTO. Majority of the time a friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

Health Insurance and Pay. Training and inability to retain good leaders/supervisors. Need more focus on proactive responses instead reactive responses.

    Advice to Management

Continue to put more training in effort into the younger leaders.

I have been working at Gilsbar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A great work environment because of the fellow employees despite poor management.

    Cons

Poor management. Very little pay. No upward mobility.

I worked at Gilsbar full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They leave you be. Which is also a con. They keep it cool inside so you don’t sweat. I didn’t stick around long enough to have many pros. Was never treated worse than I was there.

    Cons

When new. No training even though it was promised. Very woman strong company and they treat the men like women have always been treated in employment over time. Guess it’s their way of giving it back to the man. Truly sad how they treat men. Cliques are even worse.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let new blood take over. Almost all management there is horrible.

    Pros

So far I like having own work space. Have management in office. Work with small number of people within my depart

    Cons

Review heath insurance benefits and they seem pretty high premium and out of pocket costs.

I have been working at Gilsbar full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work is easy to complete. Staff is reasonably friendly. Remote work option is nice.

    Cons

Extremely low pay when compared nationally and very low when compared to local market. Constant turnover. People switch positions constantly. Overqualified people in low jobs and inexperienced people in management positions. Every one is terrified about achieving metrics and of being fired on a whim. Health care is garbage. High deductible HSA.

    Advice to Management

Utilize employees to their full advantage. Ease up on the metrics fear tactics.

I worked at Gilsbar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great wellness program, somewhat flexible hours depending on your department, and good opportunity to gain some experience for your resume.

    Cons

Horrible (and I mean horrible) health benefits. Insurance priced so that normal PPO plan is so expensive, so the high deductible plan is really only viable option. My family deductible was $6,000 and then still 80/20 coverage. When I had my son via c-section, it cost $8,500 out of pocket! No real room for advancement, even when there is an opening, and you're highly qualified. They would prefer to not fill and distribute the work or bring in an outsider to fill the spot. Management not transparent and a lot of politics. Can be toxic at times.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within, take the time to develop your employees, there's more to a great workplace than a wellness program. Offer better health coverage! You're a TPA for God's sakes!

I have been working at Gilsbar full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Gilsbar is growing nationally and is a great place to be if you like to work hard and be a part of a team. There is a lot of opportunity for someone who is focused and dedicated. The company, while large, still has a community feel. The CEO cares about his employees and your coworkers start to feel like family after a while.

    Cons

There have been some growing pains, but nothing that is too hard if you like a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Don't lose sight of the values Gilsbar has always held to during this time of growth and transition. It is such a wonderful place to work and it would be a shame to lose that unique culture during an expansion. It hasn't happened, but it pays to be prepared and aware.

I worked at Gilsbar full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A paycheck? If you don't mind getting treated like a piece of garbage - this place is perfect!

    Cons

    Micro-managing
    Discourages free-thinking
    Discourages asking questions
    Discourages new ideas
    Discourages helping one another
    Training is pitiful
    Procedures are old and outdated
You will be terminated without warning if you don't shut-up and do what you are told

    Advice to Management

Be a leader. Stop firing people that don't agree with you. Consider that you are a bully, with a sad existence of making the honest, hard-working people under you feel like they mean nothing.
