I worked at Gilsbar (More than a year)

    I worked at Gilsbar full-time

    Pros

Benefits, Wellness program, ability to work from home

    Cons

If you don't suck up to the supervisors then you will not last long with this company. They show favoritism in every department, and if your not willing to get in their "clique" then you will be terminated without reason. Hank, the CEO, is great and has no idea how is staff is being mistreated.

I worked at Gilsbar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice company events (if you ever get to go to them between all you duties/metrics), Air conditioning (if you are in the right place where you aren't freezing or dieing), some nice people there, Hank is a wonderful person who has no idea how his officers treat the staff (i.e. poorly, unless you are a favorite or in a clique there), entry level pay is enough to live on (usually at $12/hr)

    Cons

The Sales Reps can do no wrong; if they make you lose a hot/cold lead as a "Researcher" from talking about beer and vacations too loud, don't complain, you won't get anywhere. Support staff are treated like dogs, LRT is a revolving door, CONSTANT lies about everything from why the AC is malfunctioning to incentives to cuts to the insurance you get (don't do the HSA option, if you are there a while, then switch to it). Your work will be either stolen or unappreciated. This is job for most people (hence why there are very few people there past 5 years who don't have a "friend" in upper management). If you (the reader) notice the dips then major ups, Team Leads instruct their people to leave positive reviews after massive firings. Don't shake things up, also be wary if hired as an "Administrative Assistant to Professional Liability (PL)", the duties list covers many different jobs and each has their individual perks and downfalls and salaries and opportunities.

    Advice to Management

They won't listen, so why bother? There are obvious changes needed; for example, by hiring and properly training and trusting employees to do their jobs and not just firing, long term costs would be saved. It costs more to hire and fire then to hire quality talent and train and work with them.

    Pros

Gilsbar is unprecedented in their culture, especially in the Northshore area. Incredible flexibility, management, and just a fun place to work. They really focus on helping everyone achieve their best and provide many opportunities for advancement. The culture really is infectious.

    Cons

The pay is competitive, for the Northshore area. But, it is not competitive with the New Orleans area, quoting the benefit of saving "a commute across the bridge." It's a trade off, but not unfair.

    Pros

    Great Benefits...welcoming gift at orientation

    Cons

Favoritism and too "cliquish" to compete with any other large company outside of small town.

    Advice to Management

Listen to new hires also...let them also grade their trainer. Stop the nepitism.
