I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The team of people who helped build Gilt.

    Cons

HBC corporate management has diluted the soul of what Gilt stood for. The energy, the excitement of being a part of something that sought to offer customers a new retail experience evaporated with the new management placed by HBC.

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time

    Pros

    benefits the company offers

    Cons

hourly pay needs to be increased with all the hard work employees put in for the company

    Advice to Management

give a lot of rope, but enough rope to hang yourself. very hard work for the pay given . The people are okay but you have to know somebody that knows somebody to move forward there. Very hard for colored people to move forward.

    Pros

Use to be a creative, entrepreneurial minded, cut-through-the-red-tape and get the work done swiftly.

    Cons

HBC buyout diminished ingenuity of culture! So sad, was an amazing concept and company.

    Advice to Management

Operate more like LVMH, let each company flourish on it's own.

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing people (mostly), great benefits, formerly innovative

    Cons

Disappointing executive team overall, overemphasis on MBAs, occasionally toxic culturally

    Advice to Management

Company has since been sold and all management is pretty much gone - but in your future jobs, remember and embrace that people are your greatest asset - listen to them, let them make decisions, find freshness and focus your priorities. And don't spend money unnecessarily.

I have been working at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Used to be a great work environment,
Used to have great benefits and opportunities for growth. Hopefully they still have a chance to bring back these qualities in the coming year.

    Cons

Since being acquired all focus has been out towards cost savings measures, they have put no effort toward retaining the talent that has made the company a success in the first place.

    Advice to Management

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing every day and expecting different results.

Value the humans who are coming in to work for you everyday, start to foster growth and advancement on your teams and allocating them the resources necessary to do their jobs before it is too late.

    Pros

People used to be great, but not so much anymore in the merchandising roles.

    Cons

Extremely political, everyone is terrible at making decisions.

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Casual work environment, interesting people.

    Cons

Culture of negativity. Whenever a problem arises, rather than attempt to constructively work together to find solutions, attempts are made to find a culprit and punish them. Most changes to policy tend to be the solution in search of a problem variety, and as such, the departments get less efficient as time goes on. Management does not trust its own staff to provide insight into challenges facing the department and company.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be the same to anyone working there: leave and find employement elsewhere at a company that values input from its staff.
