I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Very little
-Free refreshments and easy to make friends
-learn lots of skills that can help you escape the company

    Cons

    Plenty
    - Poor Management; constantly asking for overtime but withholding full time, not helpful would avoid escalations at all costs, lazy supervisors who would come in passed their shift. Also found one day, one particular supervisor was asleep on the job.
-Poor HR and payroll; when I left they did not pay me my full paycheck and holiday pay. When I emailed them, I was passed around and no-one would take the blame
-If you decide to leave and hand in your notice, you will be treated very badly. I was almost reduced to tears after the amount of time and effort I had put into the company.
-Terrible pay with poor pay-rise after a year.
-After being incorporated with HBC, work environment worsened considerably.
-Little to no chance of job progression

    Advice to Management

HBC- evaluate all supervisors and HR staff, CARE about your employees for once and you won't have the high amount of staff turnover in this company.

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The team of people who helped build Gilt.

    Cons

HBC corporate management has diluted the soul of what Gilt stood for. The energy, the excitement of being a part of something that sought to offer customers a new retail experience evaporated with the new management placed by HBC.

I have been working at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great culture of developer empowerment. Most progressive place I've worked in in my career.
Get to work with extremely bright people and cutting edge technology.
Devops culture, extremely easy to test and deploy to production.
Voluntary adoption, teams choose the tools and technology that best fit their needs. Convergence comes about because tools and technologies that people love win out, not because they were imposed from down.
Dublin office is a fun place to work.
Senior management who came from Gilt are excellent, truly inspiring people to work for.

    Cons

Culture threatened by encroaching bureaucracy from the HBC organization who acquired Gilt.
HBC senior management team is less than inspiring.
    HBC IT systems suck.

    Advice to Management

Keep fighting the good fight in preserving the Gilt culture within the larger organization.

    Pros

Amazing people (mostly), great benefits, formerly innovative

    Cons

Disappointing executive team overall, overemphasis on MBAs, occasionally toxic culturally

    Advice to Management

Company has since been sold and all management is pretty much gone - but in your future jobs, remember and embrace that people are your greatest asset - listen to them, let them make decisions, find freshness and focus your priorities. And don't spend money unnecessarily.
