I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to learn a lot, great coworkers, innovator in the ecommerce space, discount at Saks as well as Gilt, leaders are generally smart and respectful (most of the time)

    Cons

Pay on the low side, Gilt is unsure what it wants to be, HR and company culture took a nosedive when acquired by HBC, some leaders a bit unstable at times

    Advice to Management

Figure out what you want your business model to be in 2017, pay your valuable employees more, HBC HR needs to get its act together

I have been working at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing time off policy, great cross banner discount, some nice people

    Cons

Awful management, low pay, rigorous work schedule, terrible upper management, grunt work. Gilt used to have an amazing corporate culture, but it lost it once it was acquired by HBC. It's a very clique-y environment.

    Advice to Management

    This could take a while.

    Pros

Extremely fast paced and a lot can be learned while in your role.

    Cons

If you aren't capable of keeping up with changes in direction then this is not the place for you. They have been acquired since I was employed so it's possible a lot has changed.

    Pros

Gilt has a great core of managers and good hourly employees. You always feel welcomed among your peers and there are great culture events.

    Cons

Due to the business model, you must be aware that there are a lot of last-minute changes to your workload and you mist adapt on the fly.

    Advice to Management

Continue the engagement push that's been in effect the last few months. Employees want to know as much information about the operation as possible.

    Pros

great people, office environment and flexible work schedule

    Cons

With the recent acquisition from Hudson's Bay, a lot of things were promised such as no headcount changes. However, that's not the case and a lot of people were let go unfortunately.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent when things are going on with the organization. Don't just react when the rumor mill is buzzing loudly.

    Pros

Smart people, great discounts, nice office, great technology and infrastructure.

    Cons

All the fun reasons that made the company great are gone. Lot of arrogant self serving managers that don't stay around and see things through.

    Advice to Management

Don't let HBC run Gilt, keep and embrace the original culture.

    Pros

At Gilt your ideas are heard and everyone from entry level to the CEO has a seat at the table. People with hustle and grit are encouraged to work hard and often see the reward from doing so. It is a collaborative environment which allows you to learn about various areas of the business and work cross-functionally.

Having the ability to partner closely with senior leaders across the organization, including Michelle Peluso, was the biggest takeaway for me from my time at Gilt.

    Cons

Pros definitely outweigh any cons I would have. I think the one thing that stands out is the lack of work life balance in all areas of the organization. Employees are often expected to be available 7 days a week and to reply to any inquiries or business needs even when out of the office. Learning how to manage this is important in the Gilt culture but it is also a great place to get your hands dirty and learn a ton.

    Advice to Management

Lessen favoritism when it comes to promoting, often times there is bias going into functional leadership roles and qualified employees can be overlooked because of this.

    Cons

management was unsupportive and was hesitant to promote
favoritism was encouraged and was a big factor in promotions that did happena
