I have been working at Gilt Groupe part-time

    Pros

Friendly colleagues. Free sodas and fruit.

    Cons

All the supes care about is hiding as far away as possible and their phones while stressed specialists have to do their work. One supe told me she doesn't take escalations and to get rid of the member on my own.

Weekends are the worst. No one wants to do them so there is never enough staff. You are constantly pushed calls and not allowed to ask questions.

HR team is the most unhelpful I've ever come across. You can't meet them and they don't respond to emails.

    Advice to Management

Stop taking advantage of specialists and start treating everyone with respect. Do your own jobs!

    Give more training.

I worked at Gilt Groupe part-time

    Pros

Work was manageable after a while it's dealing with the same problems for people. Some staff are very nice, some customers are pleasant.

    Cons

Some of the supervisors are rude. If there is an escalated call, they can huff and puff about it. Awkward about days off and sometimes just plain mean for the sake of it.

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff like people rather than replaceable bums in seats. Communicate better.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Don't be so mean to your staff. Staff don't like being treated like dogs

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

great people, office environment and flexible work schedule

    Cons

With the recent acquisition from Hudson's Bay, a lot of things were promised such as no headcount changes. However, that's not the case and a lot of people were let go unfortunately.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent when things are going on with the organization. Don't just react when the rumor mill is buzzing loudly.

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart people, great discounts, nice office, great technology and infrastructure.

    Cons

All the fun reasons that made the company great are gone. Lot of arrogant self serving managers that don't stay around and see things through.

    Advice to Management

Don't let HBC run Gilt, keep and embrace the original culture.

    Pros

At Gilt your ideas are heard and everyone from entry level to the CEO has a seat at the table. People with hustle and grit are encouraged to work hard and often see the reward from doing so. It is a collaborative environment which allows you to learn about various areas of the business and work cross-functionally.

Having the ability to partner closely with senior leaders across the organization, including Michelle Peluso, was the biggest takeaway for me from my time at Gilt.

    Cons

Pros definitely outweigh any cons I would have. I think the one thing that stands out is the lack of work life balance in all areas of the organization. Employees are often expected to be available 7 days a week and to reply to any inquiries or business needs even when out of the office. Learning how to manage this is important in the Gilt culture but it is also a great place to get your hands dirty and learn a ton.

    Advice to Management

Lessen favoritism when it comes to promoting, often times there is bias going into functional leadership roles and qualified employees can be overlooked because of this.

    Pros

    on creative team:
great team (though there has been an employee drain in the past 2 years)
    fun employee events

    Cons

    on the creative team:
management was unsupportive and was hesitant to promote
favoritism was encouraged and was a big factor in promotions that did happena

I worked at Gilt Groupe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Young Company with a lot of cool benefits, like endless vacation, sponsored events and great discounts. That's about it.

    Cons

Overwhelmingly understaffed. Work Life balance does not exist. People above you do whatever they want, when they want, and you are a bottom feeder. No one helps you grow internally here if it's not directly benefiting themselves.

    Advice to Management

    I could write a novel.

    Pros

Great atmosphere and good canteen facilities. Free parking in the Limerick office. Looked after well during training week. Career progression possible.

    Cons

The hours were not very flexible. I worked 20 hours over 5 days which cost a lot in petrol to commute. Some aspects of the job were not covered in training.

    Advice to Management

Extra training in all areas that the customer support agent will be covering to avoid that feeling of being thrown in at deep end. Allow more hours across less days.
