    Pros

Young crowd and there is a pretty good work environment. Bosses are hands off usually

    Cons

They do have very busy times and push employees during these times too hard

    Pros

Approachable and friendly employees, alternating free doughnuts/bagels on Fridays, alternating work-from-home summer Fridays. Everyone tries hard to succeed.

    Cons

No direction, no strategy, no goals. "SELL SELL SELL! Just get it done!" No transparency. When something goes wrong, everyone shuffles around to blame the weakest link because they're too afraid to tell anyone what really went wrong. Sometimes a bit sexist.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the people who have been there forever and listen to all your employees. You think that if you let the employees on the lower end of the totem pole speak their mind, they'll just bash your company but in reality we just want to succeed and see the company succeed but feel hindered for speaking our minds.

    "Great company with great people"

I have been working at Giovatto Advertising full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Giovatto is a great place to work. From what I've seen there are 2 different categories of people who work here. Category 1 consists of young adults recently out of college that stay for an average of 2-5 years, growing themselves as much as they can until they are ready to move on. The others are a core group of people who have been steadily growing within the company. This creates a perfect work environment because you have the ability to learn a lot from the start, especially since Giovatto is a full-service agency, and if you wind up loving the company there is definitely room for growth.

Other pros include a young workforce, hands on assignments, great coworkers, lots of creative people, and a fun business casual environment.

    Cons

There are frequently communication disconnects between the owners, account managers, and creative. This leads to miscommunication and/or lack of knowledge regarding projects which then turns into unnecessary stress for everyone involved. Better communication and keeping all necessary parties in the loop at all times will fix this.

Also, clients are mostly automotive related. Very interesting stuff at first, but can and will get boring and tedious after a while.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Continue growing. Adding more clients (especially non-auto related) will further the growth and diversity.

    Pros

Will do anything to get business so if you are in upper management you can make blood money for awhile. They hire young kids right out of college with no experience so if you are looking for a job and are smart, they should hire you. They need smart people.

    Cons

Post GD employee reviews as part of the marketing plan. Do not trust anything positive about working there except they like money and will do anything to make it. Fire every October to make yearly numbers and still they are drowning each month.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees better.

    Cons

Fast paced environment. Do what it takes attitude. Must be thick skinned to work in high pressure environment.

I worked at Giovatto Advertising full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great entry level position, young staff, fun place to work, good addition to your resume, good looking account staff

    Cons

    • Staff is seriously under appreciated, you'll rarely hear "good job."

    • Bonuses or raises are extremely sparse (you can work here for several years without seeing a raise, promotion or bonus).

    • Management is clueless and old, they wouldn't know good design if it was sitting on their desk, Therefore the work suffers.

    • They hire their friends and family, regardless of how "skilled" they are. No joke, the sister has been there for easily 10+ years and I think it was a running gag that we have yet to see her do any actual work.

    • No middle management to drive staff and inspire.

    • Overall lack of vision in the company.

    • They continue to go after shady car dealerships as clients for quick buck, and in turn continue to churn out sh*tty car advertisements and useless direct mail pieces.

    • Projects are always rushed and worked on in the final hour.

Recognize that any success you do have is because of YOUR STAFF. Therefore, treat your staff better, otherwise you'll continue to be forced to hire straight out of college. Any real talent will continue to walk out the door.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate your game plan, otherwise you won't be around in 10 years. I'm honestly surprised you've lasted this long. It's a true miracle. Also bring in some people that are familiar with the space, with a decent vision, and can forecast the way that things are going (digital)

    Pros

    • "We will try anything to see if it sticks" mentality lets you create portfoliio
    • Everyone around you is as desperate and confused as you are

    Cons

    • Sales and owners are not designers or writers or creative or marketers in any way so have no clue, just Jersey auto dealer "guys"

    • Sales is all family or childhood friends.

    Advice to Management

Hope you saved your nuts 'cause winter is here.

    Pros

The co-workers are great, relaxed environment, management is very understanding of work/life balance, very flexible, bagels and pastries on friday mornings, great location for running errands at lunch, lots of free perks from media around the holidays, work with lots of creative people.

    Cons

the pay is not amazing and it's very difficult to get a raise even when you are doing well. many people hate to leave but have to because of better pay offers.

    Advice to Management

hold scheduled employee reviews every 6 months to a year in order to provide feedback and raise opportunities. be honest about raises.

    Pros

A flexible schedule that promotes time to research new technology and trends in the web. Great environment to work, with good compensation and benefits. The trust that the management has in new ideas assists the constantly expanding digital side of its advertising and marketing capabilities with proper funding and new assets.

    Cons

A lot of the deadlines are short and cause to work extra hours on occasion.

    Advice to Management

Continue to promote the creativity of all departments and the company will continue to succeed.

    Pros

Was close to where I lived; had a college-like atmosphere... up-beat 20 & 30-somethings who couldn't stand their jobs, but all got along great with e/o. Attractive co-workers; made for interesting environment & delicious hook-ups!

    Cons

Where to begin?! Just about everything: Management, vision, direction (lack of), insolence, no business plan... I could keep going, but you probably get the idea.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue, or you won't be around for too much longer; it's boggling to the mind how you've managed to stay afloat for as long as you have. Gonna have to step-up the competence level if you'd ever like to compete in the Advertising world...
