I worked at Girl Scouts USA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It allows you to give children from 6-12 years old a great summer experience, as well as helps develop time management skills.

    Cons

Many of the counselors have been going to this camp since they were children, so it is a tight knit community that is difficult for newcomers to assimilate into.

I worked at Girl Scouts USA part-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

All of the other staffers are truly amazing. It has a close-knit community, and you are making a meaningful impact on young girls' lives.

      Cons

You are on the clock 22 hours a day, and if a girl asks you to remove a spider from their tent at 2 AM you have to do it. The job is also somewhat high stress as you are responsible for the safety of a lot of young girls, and the management can be a little harsh for that reason if you make a mistake.

I worked at Girl Scouts USA

      Pros

It was great coming to work and making a difference. Wonderful mission for girls.

      Cons

Treatment by upper management was incredibly poor. If you were working day camp, you were looked down upon from the management and resident camp staff. There was always drama amongst staff.

      Advice to Management

Don't play favorites and treat ALL employees equally.
